Stacy Abrahams Caught In New Scandal: Spending $2 Billion To Save $100 | JP

Twice-failed Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacy Abrams is no stranger to political scandal, but the latest situation is proving particularly difficult for her to wiggle her way out of.

In recent weeks, evidence has surfaced about a $2 billion federal grant bestowed to a green-energy organization led by Abrams. The discovery led to allegations of corruption, and she did little to help herself when she tried to explain everything on MSNBC.

Despite being introduced by an overtly sympathetic host, Abrams went on to admit that the supposed payoff for all the money her organization received was laughably small.

Between 2023 and 2024, she said Vitalizing De Soto replaced existing household appliances with energy-efficient ones for residents of the “tiny town” in Georgia.

“For 75% of the community, they got appliances that are lowering their bills right now,” she said. “We had one woman who saw her electricity bill cut in half, from $180 to $98.”

Her on-air acknowledgement led to significant social media backlash:

The perceived absurdity of shelling out billions for such results only became more pronounced in the context of exactly how small De Soto is:

The rest of the responses on X were overwhelmingly negative, with many users theorizing that corruption and greed are at the bottom of the green-energy scheme:

The New York Post reported earlier this month that U.S. Environmental Protection Agency head Lee Zeldin called out the massive grant as part of a larger effort to rein in government waste within the agency:

The Environmental Protection Agency recently discovered that the Biden administration awarded $2 billion to a climate group with ties to former Georgia Democratic gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams, a fierce supporter of former President Joe Biden.

The money was earmarked for Power Forward Communities — a nonprofit partnered with multiple left-wing groups founded by Abrams and which the Georgia Democrat has stated she was “thrilled” to be part of, the Washington Free Beacon reported on Wednesday.

The funds were set aside at an outside financial institution — Citibank — before Biden left office and part of a larger, $20 billion pot of money the former president’s EPA received through the Inflation Reduction Act to dole out to climate groups.

“It’s extremely concerning that an organization that reported just $100 in revenue in 2023 was chosen to receive $2 billion,” EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin told the outlet, referring to Power Forward Communities’ latest tax filings. “That’s 20 million times the organization’s reported revenue.”

As the MSNBC clip revealed, President Donald Trump even referenced the matter during his recent speech to Congress.

Per The Hill:

When speaking about wasteful spending, Trump said his Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) found $1.9 billion was used to form a committee focused on the decarbonization of homes. That committee, he claimed, was headed up by Abrams.

Abrams responded to Trump’s speech by going to a different leftist cable news network to complain:
