Squad Democrat Appears To Call For Political Violence: ‘See You In The Streets’

As Democrat lawmakers were protesting against President Trump’s cuts to the federal workforce outside the Treasury Building on Tuesday evening, U.S. Rep. Ayanna Presley (D-MA) called on her supporters to “agitate” in the streets. The speech has been interpreted as a call for violence.

Democrat lawmakers continued with their protests in Washington D.C. on Tuesday, the most liberal city in the country that went for Kamala Harris by a nine-to-one margin. After a similar rally outside the USAID headquarters on Monday, Democrats gathered outside the Treasury Building to protest Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) initiative.

Before delivering her speech, Pressley led protestors in a “hey hey, ho ho, Elon Musk has got to go” chant before making her way to the podium. “Agitating. We will see you in the courts, in Congress, in the streets,” the far-left congresswoman shouted before referring to Musk as a “Nazi nepo-baby.”

“A godless, lawless billionaire who no one elected. Elon, this is the American people. This is not your trashy cyber truck that you can just dismantle, rip apart, and sell the pieces off. All right,” Pressley continued.

Tuesday’s statement was far from the first time Pressley has seemingly called on supporters to commit political violence. During the Black Lives Matter riots in 2020, Pressley called on movement supporters to create “unrest” in the streets.

“Make the phone calls, send the emails, show up,” Pressley told MSNBC’s Joy Reid at the time. “You know, there needs to be unrest in the streets for as long as there’s unrest in our lives.” The Black Lives Matter riots — which continued for weeks after the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis — killed more than 20 people and caused billions of dollars in property damage.

Pressley’s comments come just days after House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) also called on Democrats to take to the streets. “Right now, we’re going to keep focus on the need to look out for everyday New Yorkers and everyday Americans who are under assault by an extreme MAGA Republican agenda that is trying to cut taxes for billionaires, donors, and wealthy corporations and then stick New Yorkers and working-class Americans across the country with the bill,” Jeffries said while flanked by Democrat lawmakers last week.

“That’s not acceptable. We are going to fight it legislatively. We are going to fight it in the courts. We’re going to fight it in the streets.”

In the days following Jeffries’ comments, several violent protests have erupted across the United States in response to President Trump’s deportation efforts. In Los Angeles, protesters waving the Mexican flag could be seen attacking cars as they shut down freeways. Police eventually gathered and appeared to be preparing to make arrests before they were ordered to stand down.
