Candidate for President and leader of the Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR), George Simion, promised that if elected, he will declassify all documents related to the pandemic.

His promise came in response to a call from journalist Sorin Roșca Stănescu. “George Simion should promise the population of Romania that if he becomes president, he will declassify everything related to the pandemic, so that the population finds out what happened, and those responsible for the misfortunes created during the pandemic answer. What do you say, Mr. George Simion?”

Simion responded to the journalist, saying “Not only do I promise to declassify everything that happened in the pandemic, but I will also make sure that the people who are guilty will be held accountable. AUR was the only party that had the courage to demand transparency and fight against the abuses committed during the pandemic, right from the beginning. A concrete step in this direction was the initiation of the Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry into procurements during the pandemic, an essential action for discovering the truth. We strongly argued that a massive robbery had occurred around that time, and our suspicions were later confirmed…”

The Romanian leader added, “The pandemic was also an opportunity for those in power to abuse Romanians’ trust and money. Hasty purchases without transparency have fueled corruption and left behind not only sick people but also defrauded taxpayers. We cannot allow this robbery to go unpunished. I promise that all the details of these affairs will be brought to light and that we will demand the punishment of those who profited from the suffering of the Romanians.”

“We must remember that AUR also succeeded in blocking the “green certificate” in the workplace, a discriminatory measure that would have restricted the fundamental rights of citizens,” Simion concluded. “I fought for the freedom of every Romanian to decide about his health and life, without pressure from the state or institutions. Romania needs transparency and a president who does not hide the truth!”
