She Labored at an Abortion Clinic and Had an Abortion. Now She’s Professional-Life and Has 6 Children
Kelly Lester is a former abortion facility worker who had four abortions of her own before having a change of heart. Her inspiring personal journey through personal trauma, working in the abortion industry, and ultimately, conversion will be the subject of her keynote address to the Maryland Right to Life Banquet on November 6th in Annapolis.
Today, Lester encourages pro-life advocates to love and pray for those in the abortion industry. “They are deceived,” she says, “(An abortion facility is) not a place to find hope, only more hurt.”

As an abortion clinic worker, she said: “We did everything to make sure the woman’s choice was abortion.” Lester was a ranked tennis player with a bright academic future whose abortion at 15 derailed her life. “I walked out and ran from everything good in my life.” Drugs, crime with a cartel, and work at an abortion clinic followed. Now a married mother of six, Lester works with an organization of former abortion workers, And Then There Were None, as well Pro-Love Ministries and Maps Global.
“If you turn to the Lord, he will heal you,” Lester said.
Over 39,000 abortions were performed in Maryland in 2024, according to the Guttmacher Institute. Some women are even traveling from other states to Maryland because abortion is allowed here for virtually any reason throughout pregnancy.
It is clear that across our state many pregnant women and families desperately need a message of hope. They deserve to know the truth. Abortion only creates new problems. And as Lester says, it brings “only more hurt.”
Now, more than ever, it is important to support pro-life outreach on the state level. Proceeds from the Banquet benefit the educational work of Maryland Right to Life.
Through education, we have the opportunity to prevent other women from having to go through the same pain and regret that Kelly Lester experienced. No woman should be left in the dark about what abortion really does to an unborn baby or the long-term effects abortion can have on her physical and/or mental health.
