Satanic statue erected in front of Michigan Capitol, Democrat staffer poses with it, calls it ‘sexy’

The Satanic Temple erected a statue of Satan in front of the Michigan Capitol earlier this week which has sparked outrage among Christians who oppose Satan and all his works.

Seven Republican state legislators signed a letter demanding the statue’s removal but a Democrat staffer took a picture with the Satanic idol, praising it as “sexy.”

Samantha Skorka, the Michigan Democrat staffer, uploaded a photo to X of her kissing the “sexy” Satanic idol. However, Skorka has since deleted her post and claimed that her comments were just a joke.

“In the name of Satan, I claim the sexy satanic baphomet goat altar at OUR Michigan Capitol. Amen,” said Skorka.

Furthermore, it has been revealed that Skorka has a history of anti-Christian sentiments, according to social media posts.

On Thursday, Skorka wrote on X: “Don’t forget to wish a Pagan a happy Yule and bright solstice.” She added a goat emoji to the text.

Multiple Republican state legislators penned a letter to members of the capitol commission calling for the statue’s removal.

“We, as members of the Michigan House of Representatives,” the letter read, “respectfully request the removal of the statue depicting a satanic goat from the grounds of the Capitol. We believe that its presence not only contradicts the foundational principles of our nation but also promotes a public display of evil.”

“Our nation’s ethos is deeply rooted in moral and virtuous principles, as highlighted by John Adams in his letter to the Massachusetts Militia: ‘Morality and virtue are the foundation of our Republic and necessary for a society to be free.'” The presence of this statue at the Capitol seems to undermine these core values, which are fundamental to the Republic’s foundation,” it continues.

“As elected representatives of our respective districts, we are entrusted with upholding the values and principles our nation was built upon. Therefore, we strongly urge the Capitol Commission to consider the implications of having such a statue on the Capitol grounds and to take decisive action in its removal. Our firm belief is that removing this statue will resonate with the principles of good and morality that our country cherishes,” the letter states.

The Satanic idol was erected in Michigan after a similar one was placed inside the Iowa state Capitol last week by The Satanic Temple. A Christian military veteran from Missouri traveled to Iowa and decapitated the statue of Satan.

According to The Sentinel, Michael Cassidy pushed over and beheaded the statue of Baphomet, which was placed in the building by members of the Satanic Temple of Iowa after receiving permission, and discarded the head of the statue into the trash.

Cassidy told the outlet that he destroyed the altar on Thursday to “awaken Christians to the anti-Christian acts promoted by our government.”

“The world may tell Christians to submissively accept the legitimization of Satan, but none of the founders would have considered government sanction of Satanic altars inside Capitol buildings as protected by the First Amendment,” Cassidy said. “Anti-Christian values have steadily been mainstreamed more and more in recent decades, and Christians have largely acted like the proverbial frog in the boiling pot of water.”

Cassidy turned himself in to officers who were present in the building, who confirmed that the Satanic Temple of Iowa seeks to press charges. Cassidy was charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief and said he faces additional charges.

This is a developing story and will be updated.
