Sanders and AOC’s lefty tour: Letters to the Editor — March 28, 2025
The Issue: Sen. Bernie Sanders and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez holding rallies across the country.
The Democratic loss to President Trump left behind a political wreckage (“In Dems’ civil war, one side is doomed,” PostOpinion, Isaac Schorr, March 27).
Instead of facing the real cause, Democrats are stubbornly blaming it on messaging, which was never the issue.
Now, one of their solutions is to push Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Sen. Bernie Sanders to lead the charge. This will backfire.
Again, the problem was never messaging, but the message itself. Voters heard it and rejected it; now Democrats refuse to accept that.
Also, AOC and Sanders aren’t just Democrats, they’re progressive Democrats. Sanders calls himself a socialist, and AOC is his protégé: They’re like Chancellor Palpatine and Anakin Skywalker from Star Wars: We don’t need a Darth Vader on our hands.

Democrats are mistaken to enlist AOC and Sanders as their spokespersons. Must the American people be forced to listen to these two ramble against Trump and Elon Musk every single day?
Democrats should select someone else with the ability to deliver their message. But given the lack of talent in today’s Democratic Party, it looks like we’re stuck with AOC and Bernie.

Sanders and AOC are traveling across multiple states, distorting facts about the accomplishments of Trump and Elon Musk. This does nothing to help their party.

AOC and Sanders’ latest fixation is the idea that America has become an oligarchy.
An oligarchy is a small group of elites running the country — kind of like the people in Washington. AOC is part of that small group. Like her multimillionaire colleagues, she has little contact with the struggles of average Americans.
If you work in Congress, the White House or the Supreme Court, you are essentially a part of the oligarchy that serves over 300 million Americans. That’s just the way the world works.

The Issue: Rep. Jasmine Crockett’s seemingly ableist comments directed at Texas Gov. Greg Abbott.
Rep. Jasmine Crockett ridiculed Texas Gov. Greg Abbott’s disability by referring to him as “Governor Hot Wheels” (“ ‘Wheely’ tasteless Dem ire,” March 26).
That should at least provoke an accusation of mean-spiritedness from House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries. Where’s the outrage from the liberal media over this?

It’s hard to believe someone like Jasmine Crockett is a member of Congress. Her thinly veiled calls for violence against political opponents and her mockery of Gov. Abbott’s disability by calling him “Governor Hot Wheels” exposes her bully mentality.
But her ignorance of the law is just as alarming. She recently stated in a televised interview that crossing the border illegally is not a violation of federal law but merely a civil violation.
Anyone that clueless shouldn’t be anywhere near Congress.
