KYIV – Russia struck a plant in Mukachevo along the Polish border in West Ukraine, a city for the most part that has been spared from the fighting.
CDM has spoken to residents of the city multiple times recently.
The FLEX Ltd. factory produced electronics like fitness trackers, health monitors, and coffee machines for brands such as Nike, Google, and Lenovo. It had just been renovated in April.
At the time of the attack, 600 workers were inside; all reached shelter, but 15 were injured.
“Flex knew about the rocket incoming. There were 300 people on the shift. They evacuated almost all. 12 got hurt. There was probably a NATO or US military advisor meeting on that day on the Flex plant,” said one source.
“About 2,600 specialists worked here. Last year, this production paid more than UAH 340 million in taxes, and for seven months of this year — more than UAH 285 million. American investments in the company amounted to about $24.5 million,” Ivancho said.
The number of victims as a result of the attack on Mukachevo has already increased to 19. The workshop of the enterprise in Mukachevo, where the flight arrived tonight, is not subject to restoration, for the time being – the head of Zakarpattia OVA.
Ukrainian President Zelenskiy is now saying the attack on an American company was deliberate to stop the peace process.
