Rob Reiner, Michele Singer Reiner and Their Children Made Uncommon Look Months Earlier than Dad and mom’ Deaths

Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner‘s family shared an evening out together ahead of a shocking tragedy. 

Three months before the legendary director and his wife of 36 years were found dead in their home Dec. 14, they stepped out on the red carpet at the Spinal Tap II: The End Continues premiere with their kids Jake Reiner, 34, Nick Reiner, 32, and Romy Reiner, 28, as well as Jake’s partner Maria Gilfillan.

The family, donning all black, came out to support Rob—who directed, co-wrote and appeared in the This Is Spinal Tap sequel—during the Los Angeles screening at The Egyptian Theatre Sept. 9. (Rob was also dad to Tracy Reiner with late ex-wife Penny Marshall.)

Rob and Michele were found dead in their Brentwood home on Dec. 14 in what the Los Angeles Police Department referred to as an “apparent homicide.” Nick, who had joined his family at the screening, was subsequently taken into custody and is being held on a $4 million bail, according to arrest records viewed by E! News. (The records do not specify the charge against him.)
