Random Inauguration Day Observations (in No Particular Order)

0

I admit I’m usually not big on watching inauguration ceremonies and the lead-up to them, even on the occasions when it’s a Republican president and vice president being sworn into office.

It’s not that I don’t think they’re important; they’re just not my cup of tea.

But I eagerly watched the inauguration of America’s 47th president, Donald Trump, because I woke up more than any other time in recent memory feeling like Monday was a new day in America, one full of promise and hope, one where a new, better path forward would be carved out in ways we’ve never seen before by an odds-defying man who has radically changed how politics is done in Washington, DC.

So without further ado, here are my random observations about Monday’s festivities, in no particular order of importance:

Even Trump’s enemies on that stage (and there were many, including twice-failed Democrat presidential candidate Hillary Clinton) have to respect the hustle. The guy just never gives up, not even after two assassination attempts. He just keeps on going.

Plus, I mean not that long ago he was riding in a garbage truck and slinging fries at McDonald’s.  He truly has come a long way.

Barron Trump is like 8 ft tall now. Wowsers.

As Vance was introduced at the ceremony, I couldn’t help but note to myself how he exudes so much casual confidence that it just makes you blush. I mean I’m sure he had a few butterflies but he came off as looking like it was just another normal day at the office. Calm, cool, and collected. I’m looking forward to seeing more of what he brings to the table over the next four years.

And when his kids joined him as he took the oath of office, that’s when my eyes started getting misty. What a sweet moment.

First Lady Melania Trump just knocked it out of the park with her fashion choices for the day. Second Lady Usha Vance looked fabulous as well.

On the other hand, are you kidding me with that outfit, Lauren Sanchez (Jeff Bezos’ fiancée)? Get real.

Was I the only one who noticed Joe Biden ogling Carrie Underwood? So cringe. I saw some people on Twitter/X claiming former President Bill Clinton and former Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff did the same thing, but I didn’t catch it.

Detroit Pastor Lorenzo Sewell’s prayer had me standing up and shouting “Amen!”

On a not-so-positive note, it’s clear the mainstream media has learned absolutely nothing. The interactions between them and the Trump White House are going to be even more fun to watch this time around than they were during his first term (and there were some really good ones then!).

I am digging the fact that Trump wasted NO time getting right down to business on issues like the purging of the State Department and withdrawing the United States from the Paris Climate Accords. The extra strength copium no doubt is being passed around in Democrat/media circles on this day.

What were your thoughts on Monday’s events? Feel free to share them in the comments!
