Prince Harry 'Takes Pride' in His Thinning Mane (EXCL)
Prince Harry has people criticizing his look and telling him to glam up and improve his spare-style, but a source exclusively tells Life & Style he has no intention of consenting to a makeover while wife Meghan Markle is perfectly happy with his no-nonsense approach.
“Harry has never been one to listen to the critics or dress to impress the general public,” the insider says. “He wears what he wants — this is a guy that used to love to pop over to the T.J. Maxx for discount bargains on his clothes, it’s something he actually takes pride in.”
“Being the down-to-earth Prince is almost a part of his brand and he’s certainly not going to veer from that simply because some strangers on the internet tell him he ought to. The same goes for his hair, sure he could get some sort of surgery or hair plugs like the Hollywood stars all do, but he actually takes pride in owning his balding head, he feels like it’s manly and nothing to be ashamed of.”
Harry’s brother, heir-apparent Prince William, is perhaps the single most famous example of a balding man on the planet, but that doesn’t bother the red-headed (for now) spare, 40, even as people point out he may be walking the same path as his crown thins throughout the years.
Sam McKnight MBE, a renowned hairdresser who worked with the princes’ late mother, Princess Diana, in addition to celebrities including Lady Gaga and Kate Moss, took to Instagram to urge Harry to avoid his brother’s fate.
”It’s time Harry! Many moons ago, when you and your brother were young boys, you both had the most magnificent, thick healthy crowning glories, just like mum. Many an afternoon was spent with me thinning and shaping the topiary! However, just like myself, the lush hedging is no more, a mere wisp or two of its former self,” the eccentric hair guru said.
”If I were your age I’d go for a transplant, so much more natural these days, unlike the plug plants of yore,” he added. ”And no need for a quick EasyJet trip to Turkey, you’re in California where they have the best! So Harry, from one baldy to another, it’s time. As they say in Disneyland, ‘Let It Go.’”
However, the source insists the U.S.-based prince isn’t losing sleep over losing follicles. In fact, “He always points out that it’s a sign of high testosterone when cracks about him losing his hair come up.”
Most importantly for Harry, though, is what his wife Meghan, 43, thinks of his look, which as of now is mostly firm approval and adoration of his salt-of-the-earth approach to fashion.
“It’s no secret Meghan does like to give her seal of approval to his outfits and there are times she’ll veto something, but for the most part she’s very supportive of him sticking to his basic wardrobe, she loves her high-end designer clothes but if they can save on Harry’s wardrobe and he doesn’t mind, all the better.”
