Fox Sports 1’s Colin Cowherd shocked viewers Monday afternoon when he abruptly left his show, The Herd, less than 15 minutes into the first hour. The longtime sports media personality, known for his sharp takes and animated commentary, was discussing the recent blockbuster trade sending Luka Dončić to the Los Angeles Lakers when he suddenly cut himself off mid-sentence.

“The bottom line here is I think we’re going to get a more dedicated Luka. Folks, I’m going to take a break. I am getting very, very sick very, very quickly on this set, and we will return,” Cowherd said before cutting the broadcast.

The concerning moment immediately sparked speculation online, with fans and sports media figures chiming in on social media. Some viewers noted that Cowherd looked visibly unwell just before exiting the set, while others took a more lighthearted approach, joking that the stunning Luka trade might have literally made him sick.

Cowherd, 61, has been a mainstay in sports media for decades and is known for his stamina in hosting long, high-energy segments.

Fox Sports 1 quickly released a statement regarding Cowherd’s condition, attempting to reassure concerned fans. “Colin is doing OK. Thank you for your concerns. Colin is under the weather and Jason McIntyre is filling in,” the show’s official account posted.

Cowherd recently announced plans to relocate from Los Angeles to Chicago, a move that surprised many given his deep roots in the West Coast media scene. As of now, no further details about Cowherd’s condition have been released, and it remains unclear if he will return to the show immediately or require time off to recover.

Fans flooded social media with reactions, ranging from concern to humor. Some expressed sympathy, writing, “Damn I hope he feels better, looked like he was about to throw up.”

Others made light of the situation: “The Luka trade even makes him sick.”

“He looked green,” another noted.

Cowherd is best known for his outspoken and often controversial takes on sports. He currently hosts The Herd with Colin Cowherd, a daily sports talk show on Fox Sports Radio and FS1.

Cowherd started his career in local radio before gaining national recognition on ESPN, where he hosted The Herd from 2004 to 2015. He left ESPN after a controversial comment about Dominican baseball players and joined Fox Sports, where he has remained since. In addition to his radio and TV work, he co-founded The Volume, a podcast network that features sports and pop culture content.

He is known for his strong opinions, especially on the NFL and NBA, and frequently discusses topics beyond sports, like business and psychology, tying them into his sports commentary.
