Pete Davidson Makes in 1st Appearance Since Treatment With BFF MGK
Pete Davidson enjoyed some quality time with pal Machine Gun Kelly in his first public appearance since seeking treatment for his mental health.
Davidson, 30, and Kelly, 34, were in attendance at an event at The Room at the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles on Thursday, October 24. The pair were all smiles as they posed together at the outing.
The comedian rocked a red New York Fire Department T-shirt, army green cargo pants and sneakers. The shirt was seemingly a nod to Davidson’s late father who served as a New York City firefighter who died during the 9/11 attacks.
Kelly opted for a white tank top that he paired with an unbuttoned red striped shirt. He completed the look with dark wash skinny jeans and Converse high tops.
Davidson and Kelly’s friendship goes way back. The duo initially met while on the set of Wildin’ Out in 2017 but formed a close bond while working together on the movie The Dirt, two years later.
“I don’t have any siblings, you know, so when you have someone like Pete, like, that’s like my little brother,” Kelly said during an appearance on The Howard Stern Show in September 2020. “He’s like my best friend but also like a little brother, so, like, you have the opportunity to live that dynamic of, like, having a sibling. So, obviously, to me, that’s like the dream. Pete’s like that for me.”
Kelly and Davidson have remained by each other’s sides throughout their respective ups and downs. Most recently, Davidson took off in July to prioritize his mental health.
Davidson canceled a series of stand-up shows in Florida that were scheduled for September. Multiple outlets reported in July that Davidson was seeking treatment for his mental health. Journalposts confirmed the following month that Davidson was still in the wellness facility.
“Pete remains in his treatment program and would appreciate privacy at this time while he focuses on bettering his mental health,” a person close to Davidson told Us in August.
Davidson has been open about seeking professional help for his mental health over the years.
“As some of you know, I was recently diagnosed with borderline personality disorder, a form of depression,” he shared during an October 2017 episode of SNL. “First of all, if you think you’re depressed, see a doctor and talk with him about medication and also, be healthy. Eating right and exercise can make a huge difference.”
In June 2023, Davidson checked into rehab after struggling with his diagnosis. Two months later, the Saturday Night Live alum returned to standup and joked about his “post-rehab glow.” He also revealed that he has been taking ketamine for four years.
