Panicked AOC Sends Urgent Letter to DOJ After Tom Homan Signals Federal Investigation

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) is demanding answers from Attorney General Pam Bondi after border czar Tom Homan suggested she could now be under federal investigation for advising illegal aliens on how to respond to visits from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

In a letter, Ocasio-Cortez questioned whether the Department of Justice (DOJ) had succumbed to “political pressure” following Homan’s calls to investigate her actions.

Homan requested Acting Deputy Attorney General Emil Bove to investigate AOC over efforts to help illegals avoid deportation.

However, Ocasio-Cortez said she never received any formal notice of the inquiry and now demands that Bondi provide her with transparency on the situation.

Ocasio-Cortez wrote in a letter to Bondi:

“I write to request clarity on whether the Department of Justice (DOJ) has yielded to political pressure and attempts to weaponize the agency against elected officials whose speech they disagree with.

Over the past two weeks, ‘Border Czar’ Tom Homan has gone on multiple forums threatening political prosecution against me, citing resources I distributed informing my constituents and the American public of their constitutional and legal rights.”

AOC then went on to accuse Homan of weaponizing federal law enforcement against political opponents, claiming it is a violation of her First Amendment rights.

The congresswoman demanded the DOJ respond to her inquiry about whether she or her office was actively under investigation for “executing congressional responsibilities” by March 5.

She further accused Homan of attempting to use [the DOJ] to politically “intimidate” duly elected officials.

As we reported earlier this month, Ocasio-Cortez hosted an Instagram Live webinar dubbed “Know Your Rights,” which provided guidance to illegal immigrants on responding to ICE enforcement actions.

During the webinar, Ocasio-Cortez told participants:

“When one of these things [raids] comes to your backyard, you can resist, and when that happens over millions of people, is that you generate enough friction that they cannot go as fast as they want to go.”

Watch:

The congresswoman even distributed flyers outlining ICE tactics, advising illegals on their legal options, and even going as far as to advise them not to open the door to ICE agents.

Ocasio-Cortez’s office is facilitating pro bono legal services for immigrants and encouraging those “worried about getting picked up by ICE” to fill out privacy release forms so her office can intervene.

Homan told Fox News’s Laura Ingraham that AOC’s actions could be impeding federal law enforcement efforts:

“And I sent an email today to the Deputy Attorney General. At what level is that impediment? I’m not an attorney, I’m not a prosecutor. Is that impeding our law enforcement efforts?”

Homan suggested Ocasio-Cortez may have crossed a legal boundary, adding:

“So maybe AOC is going to be in trouble now, but I need the AOG to opine on that. Because impediment is impediment in my opinion.”

Watch:

Ocasio-Cortez, who has been one of the most vocal advocates for abolishing ICE, could finally be facing justice for interfering with the security and defense of America’s borders.
