She was also a prosecutor in the Sean Combs case.

The Department of Justice on Wednesday fired Maurene Comey, aughter of former FBI Director James Comey, from her position with the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York, sources familiar with the matter told Politico. She was a prosecutor in the cases of Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell. Epstein died in prison in 2019 while Maxwell is serving a 20 year term.

Comey worked in the US Attorney’s Office for nearly a decade and while her most famous prosecution was with the state’s case against convicted pedophile and alleged sex trafficker Epstein, she was also on the prosecutorial team against music producer Sean “Diddy” Combs. The reason for her firing was not made immediately clear.

Bondi and her colleagues in the FBI recently announced that despite speculation to the contrary Epstein had killed himself and that there was no alleged client list to be released by the government.

Manhattan prosecutors, including Comey, had charged Epstein in 2019 with sex trafficking minors. He died while awaiting trial. Maxwell, Epstein’s co-defendant, was convicted of sex trafficking and was sentenced to 20 years in prison.

Comey’s firing comes after the FBI launched an investigation into her father, James Comey, over his post of an alleged threat against Trump. Some of Trump’s most vocal supporters, such as Laura Loomer, also recently called on Attorney General Pam Bondi to fire Maurene.
