Niece of former Gov. Chris Christie booted from plane, claims she “knows powerful people”, attacks deputies

NEW ORLEANS, LA- Shannon Epstein, niece of former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie was arrested at Louis Armstrong International Airport in New Orleans on Thanksgiving Day, authorities say according to Shore News Network. Epstein, 25, was arrested and charged after she kicked and bit sheriff’s deputies.

Epstein boarded a Spirit Airlines plane headed back to New Jersey when for no reason she engaged a Hispanic family seated near her and asked them if they were smuggling cocaine.

Epstein was asked to leave the flight for being disruptive, according to a spokesperson for Spirit Airlines. The spokesperson said Epstein became disruptive as the plane was leaving the gate, forcing the pilot to return the aircraft to the gate, at which point deputies from the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office were summoned to escort her off the plane.

As they attempted to do so, Epstein became violent with the officers, kicking and biting them as they attempted to detain her.

According to deputies, Epstein threatened deputies, claiming they would get fired because she “knew powerful people,” including her uncle (Christie) who she claimed was friends with former President Donald Trump.

Of course, anyone who has followed politics knows that Christie and Trump have had a falling out, with Christie coming out as a never-Trumper who continually criticizes the former president in his role as a contributor for far-left ABC News.

Epstein at one point said the officers would end up in jail for arresting her. Deputies eventually had to handcuff her to a wheelchair to bring her under control.

She was charged with six counts of assault on a police officer, three counts of disturbing the peace, one count of resisting arrest, and one count of remaining after forbidden, and was released on $10,750 bail. Shore News Network reached out to the former governor who had no comment on the incident.

One officer sustained a bit injury to his arm where Epstein broke the skin, while she kicked another officer in the groin, officials said.

Meanwhile across the pond in Germany, a 72-year-old woman has been arrested after she allegedly switched off her hospital roommate’s ventilator…not once, but twice, CBS News reports. The suspect, who was not identified, was apparently annoyed by the noise being made by the ventilator, authorities in Germany said last week.

The woman was jailed for suspicion of attempted manslaughter following the incident, which took place inside a hospital in the German city of Mannheim last week.

According to a statement from police and prosecutors,  the suspect shut off the device “after feeling disturbed by the noise coming from the oxygen device.”

Hospital officials found the ventilator shut off and told the suspect it was a vital piece of equipment for the patient. Nonetheless, she shut it off for a second time later in the evening. In that case, the patient on the ventilator had to be revived, authorities said.

The victim is now said to be “out of danger, but still needs intensive care,” officials said in a statement.

The suspect appeared before a judge last week and was then taken to jail.
