Nicole Kidman and Keith City Finalize Divorce: What the Settlement Reveals
Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban have officially ended their marriage.
The longtime couple finalized their divorce in a Nashville court on Tuesday, January 6, Journalposts confirmed. According to court documents obtained by the outlet, neither Kidman nor Urban will pay alimony or spousal support. The paperwork also states that Kidman will be the primary parent to their two daughters, Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 15, and that no monthly child support will be exchanged.
News of the finalized split comes just over three months after it was confirmed that the actress and country singer had separated. On September 29, Kidman filed for divorce after 19 years of marriage, citing “irreconcilable differences” and requesting to be named the “primary residential parent” of their daughters. (Kidman also shares two adult children, Connor and Bella, with ex-husband Tom Cruise.)
As part of the filing, Kidman submitted a marital dissolution agreement signed by both parties. The proposed parenting plan detailed that Sunday and Faith would spend 306 days per year with Kidman and 59 days with Urban, along with alternating weekends. The agreement also emphasized a commitment to cooperative coparenting.
“In the unlikely event that the parties do not agree on a major decision for either minor child, [Nicole] shall have final decision-making authority,” the plan stated.
At the time of the filing, neither Kidman nor Urban publicly addressed their breakup. However, a source told Journalposts that the pair had been “quietly separated for a while now.”
“[They] needed time to figure out if they were going to actually divorce,” the insider shared. “She had faith they could work it out. This wasn’t Nicole’s decision, and she is devastated.”
According to the source, the split was especially difficult for the Big Little Lies star, who reportedly felt “her trust was lost.”

“It was too far gone. Nicole had been trying to get them to work on their marriage and did not want this to get out to the public,” the insider added. “She didn’t tell many friends what was really going on with them and was holding this in for months.”
Kidman and Urban’s last public appearances together included the 2025 Academy of Country Music Awards and a FIFA Club World Cup game in May and June. Despite those high-profile outings, the source claimed the two had already begun living “separate lives.”
“Nicole and Keith were not on the same page,” the insider said. “They are moving in two different directions, and their worlds are not overlapping as much as they once did. The distance between them had grown more obvious recently.”
The former couple began dating in 2005 and married one year later. Over the years, they were open about the work it took to maintain their relationship.
