Nick Viall Reveals ‘Water Fast’ as ‘Diet Is Not Where It Could Be’
Nick Viall opened up about his current diet in an attempt to achieve his fitness goals, revealing he was on a “water fast.”
“I haven’t eaten in 36 hours, so that’s fun. I started a water fast,” Nick, 44, said during the Thursday, January 9, episode of “The Viall Files” podcast.
After noting that his mother gave him the idea to try out to diet, Nick told his listeners that he was “not recommending it to anyone” or encouraging people to try it with him.
While following the diet, Nick is only allowed to consume water, bone broth or electrolytes for a week. The diet “has various uses, including to lose weight, for spiritual or religious reasons or to try and combat particular health problems,” according to Medical News Today. The diet may “provide some health benefits,” but it also can come with certain risks and is not suitable for everyone.
The former Bachelor leading man went on to explain the benefits of the water fast, saying that it’s “supposed to be really healthy.”
“It’s supposed to reduce your chance of cancer, it’s supposed to be good for inflammation, it’s supposed to reduce your chance of Alzheimer’s and things like that,” he shared. “It’s supposed to have a lot of health benefits to occasionally fast.”
Nick added that he decided to go on the cleanse because he had “been eating way too much sugar lately these days.” The podcast host continued, “I think my diet is not where it could be or should be.”
While the fast is supposed to be followed for one week, Nick said that he was only participating in the unique diet for four days. “It’s the new year, I was like, ‘F–k it. If my mom can do it, why can’t I?’” he said of his reasoning to try it out.
However, Nick continued to remind his fans that they should not try the fast just because he was. “Do not take my recommendations,” the father of one said of his lifestyle change, which he insisted was just “temporary.”
“I’m doing this for me. I don’t need feedback from any of you listening, good or bad,” he added.
Nick then went on to detail how his experience with the fast was going, admitting that he didn’t start it on the best note. “It was a tough first night — and I was fine. I’m delightful right now. Last night sucked hard,” he said. “They said the first 24 hours are tough and I felt really weak and tired.”
Nick’s wife, Natalie Joy, also chimed in to confirm that he has been very “hangry” during the fast. “I’m also suffering because he’s been nothing but a bitch this whole time to me,” she jokingly said.
“He’s the hangriest person I’ve ever been around. He’s so mad, he’s so angry and I’m like, ‘You can stop whenever you f–king want!’” Natlie, 25, continued. “Last night in bed, I was like, ‘Do you want me to boil you some eggs? Because this is insane. You are being mean to me.’ It’s because you’re hungry and I understand.”
