NEW: Trump Urges Supporters To Vote In Important Special Election
President Donald Trump on Tuesday urged supporters who reside in Tennessee’s Seventh Congressional District to make sure they vote in the state’s closely-watched special election, which will have massive implications on control of the House.
The special election is being held to replace former Rep. Mark Green, who retired from Congress to pursue a job in the private sector after the passage of the Trump-backed Big Beautiful Bill back in July.
The district currently holds a partisan lean of R+10 according to the Cook Partisan Voting Index, though the race has drawn significant national attention to due the current balance of the House. Democrats are also bullish about their prospects in the traditionaly red district following impressive Democrat turnout in recent elections in Virginia and New Jersey.
Much of the district’s layout is rural, though it does include sections of West Nashville, a longtime Democratic ‘Party stronghold.
President Donald Trump has remained active in fundraising and get out the vote efforts in the pivotal race. On Tuesday night, the president took to social media in order to urge his supporters in the district to vote for Republican nominee Matt Van Epps if they haven’t already.
“I am asking all America First Patriots in Tennessee’s 7th Congressional District, who haven’t voted yet, to please GET OUT AND VOTE for MAGA Warrior Matt Van Epps, tomorrow, November 26th, the last day to vote early in person,” Trump posted on Truth Social. “You can win this Election for Matt! PLEASE VOTE FOR MATT VAN EPPS, who has my Complete and Total Endorsement.”
The post noted that early voting closes at noon and stressed that every vote is critical.
“IF YOU ARE IN LINE BY 12 P.M., STAY IN LINE, AND THEY MUST LET YOU VOTE! TN-07: Early Voting ends November 26th, and Election Day is December 2nd. GET OUT AND VOTE FOR MATT VAN EPPS — HE WILL NEVER LET YOU DOWN!”
Tennessee can’t afford radical Aftyn Behn. 💸 I’ll fight for America— always have, always will.

Both the Republican National Committee and their (RNC) and their Democratic Party rivals have poured significant resources into the race ahead of Election Day.
Notable expenditures from the GOP side include over $1.3 million from billionaire Jeff Yass, more than $600,000 from the Ken Griffin-backed Conservatives for American Excellence, $453,000 from the School Freedom Fund, seven figures from Trump’s MAGA Inc. super PAC.
The DNC has poured resources into voter outreach, launching an “organizing blitz” in mid-November to mobilize voters in Nashville.
Van Epps is facing off against Tennessee State Rep. Aftyn Behn, a progressive candidate who beat out more establishment-aligned opponents in a tightly-contested primary election. Republicans have seized on Behn’s support for radical policies in the past, including “defund the police” stances, which she has largely attempted to sidestep.
A Democrat upset in the district could prove catastrophic for the Republican Party, as the party’s majority in the House is set to be reduced by another vote following the retirement of Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) next month. A Behn victory could leave the party with just a one-seat majority once special elections for vacancies in left-leaning districts are filled over the next several weeks.
