NEW: Trump Torches Alvin Bragg, Juan Merchan Over Last-Minute Sentencing Date

President-elect Donald Trump ripped Manhattan Judge Juan Merchan and District Attorney Alvin Bragg after the former opted to schedule Trump’s sentencing for the dubious “hush money” conviction on January 10, just days before Trump is set to be inaugurated.

Trump was convicted on 34 felony counts of “falsifying business records” in a highly controversial case earlier this year. The Manhattan D.A. used COVID-era policies to expand the statute of limitations on an administrative payment error, which is generally a misdemeanor. Bragg then upgraded the charge to a felony, citing a “conspiracy” to commit another crime. The other supposed crime was never identified by Bragg, while Judge Merchan told the jury that they did not need to agree on what the alleged crime even was in order to find Trump guilty.

Despite the convoluted nature of the case, Trump was found guilty by a jury in deep blue Manhattan.

After initially postponing the sentencing indefinitely, Merchan announced Friday that Trump will be sentenced on January 10, though he will avoid jail time, fines and probation. In a lengthy Truth Social post on Saturday morning, Trump responded to the decision and insinuated that Merchan is corrupt. “I never falsified business records. It is a fake, made up charge by a corrupt judge who is just doing the work of the Biden/Harris Injustice Department, an attack on their political opponent, ME! He created a case where there was none. Keeps a ‘gag order’ on me so that I can’t talk about how crooked he is. The Fake News knows all about it, but they refuse to talk,” he wrote.

“He may be the most conflicted judge in New York State history.

“There has never been a President who was so evilly and illegally treated as I. Corrupt Democrat judges and prosecutors have gone against a political opponent of a President, ME, at levels of injustice never seen before. Corrupt judges, or judges so blinded by their hatred of me and my political ideology to ‘MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN,’ are making a mockery of the United States Judicial System, and the World is watching in disgust,” Trump wrote in a follow-up post.

Judge Merchan has faced numerous allegations of corruption since he was assigned to the case, namely due to the political activities of his daughter. Loren Merchan is a prominent Democrat political consultant who has raised millions of dollars for Democrat campaigns, some of which have used the prosecutions of former President Trump as fundraising selling points.

Authentic Campaigns, the consulting firm where Merchan works, boasts a number of the nation’s most prominent Democrats as clients. This includes U.S. Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA), House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY), and the Biden-Harris campaign, among dozens of others. The firm also lists U.S. Rep. Dan Goldman (D-NY), who has bragged about helping “star witness” Michael Cohen prepare for his testimony against Trump, as a client.

In addition, Judge Merchan himself made donation to then-candidate Biden’s presidential campaign in 2020.
