NEW: Trump Scorches Longtime MAGA Ally In Congress
President Donald Trump publicly rebuked Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) from the Oval Office on Monday, accusing the congresswoman—long seen as one of his most loyal allies—of “catering to the other side” and acting “like she doesn’t know” what she’s talking about.
Trump blasted Greene after she questioned his recent comments on inflation and grocery prices, marking one of the most pointed criticisms he’s ever directed at the Georgia firebrand.
“I passed a great big beautiful bill, which is the biggest tax cuts in the history of our country,” Trump said. “So when somebody like Marjorie Taylor Greene, who’s now catering to the other side — I don’t know what, you know, I guess she’s got some kind of an act going, but I’m surprised at her.”
“But when somebody like Marjorie goes over and starts making statements like that, it shows she doesn’t know,” he finished.
The remarks come just days after Greene distanced herself from Trump’s optimistic assessment of the economy, telling CNN that grocery prices “remain high” and that she still feels the strain of inflation firsthand. Her comments quickly drew attention, signaling rare public disagreement between the president and one of his most outspoken supporters.

For years, Greene has been one of Trump’s fiercest defenders, rallying behind him through both impeachments, the 2024 campaign, and the media onslaught that followed. But the relationship has shown signs of strain in recent months. Greene has adopted a more independent tone since her reelection, occasionally parting ways with Trump-aligned members of the House Freedom Caucus on strategy and messaging.
Some allies have speculated she’s seeking to expand her influence within the party ahead of the 2026 midterms. Last month, Greene doubled down on her criticism of President Trump and his policies, this time taking aim at his tariffs and immigration policies.
While speaking with comedian Tim Dillon, Greene suggested in October that the president’s tariff policy is aimed at enriching “crypto donors.”
“I’m talking to major manufacturing companies that are-, they’re saying we support the president, we support what he’s trying-, his long-term goal. But we’re having problems with these tariffs. And now we’re having problems, we can’t get supplies from this country, and we can’t get supplies for this country. And there’s-, there’s problems,” the congresswoman said.
“But has the, has-, have regular people’s bank accounts been, been affected? Has the stress come off? No, that has not happened yet and that needs to be the major focus,” she added. “It shouldn’t be about helping your crypto donors, or your AI donors, or welcoming in these people that hated you and spent money to try to beat you, but all of a sudden are excited to come out to the to the new Rose Garden patio. That shouldn’t be the focus.”
Greene — who has been the subject of glowing puff pieces from left-wing media outlets following her recent turn on the president — further accused Trump of abandoning his voters.
“The focus should be the people that showed up at the rallies, stood there for freaking 18 hours trying to get in the rain, in the cold, in the 100 degree heat. for those people, those are the ones that I care about. Those are the ones that voted for not only the president, but every single Republican gave us power. I don’t think those people are being served,” she continued.
