NEW: Top Kamala Campaign Advisor Deletes X Account After Landslide Defeat
Donald Trump rode back into the White House by a large margin in Tuesday’s presidential election, bringing Vice President Kamala Harris’s campaign to an unceremonious end. Despite the former vice president’s efforts to sway voters in the final days, Trump’s appeal and message proved far more resonant with the American public.
One of Harris’s key advisors, David Plouffe, appears to have quietly exited the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) following the stinging defeat. Plouffe, who played a crucial role in Harris’s campaign strategy, left behind a parting message expressing gratitude for his time with the team but noting that their efforts ultimately fell short.
“It was a privilege to spend the last 100 days with Kamala Harris and the amazing staff led by Jen O’Malley Dillon,” Plouffe wrote. “We dug out of a deep hole but not enough. A devastating loss. Thanks for being in the arena, all of you.”

However, his departure from X did not go unnoticed, as some speculate it may have been more than just an emotional farewell. In the final week leading up to the election, Plouffe had faced some heat for promoting what some called “fake data” aimed at projecting a tighter race than what materialized. By deleting his account, Plouffe sidestepped questions about the accuracy of those projections and his role in messaging that, according to some sources, was misleading.
David Plouffe deleted his X account so he didn’t have to answer public questions about the FAKE data he was peddling to media in the final week, which unsurprisingly, they didn’t even both to confirm.

Plouffe’s absence online comes amid a reckoning for the Harris campaign, with insiders and analysts beginning to assess where things went wrong.
Plouffe had predicted that Harris could secure victories in all seven swing states. Contrary to those forecasts, Trump emerged victorious across all seven. “Reviewing all the early vote data, what we’re projecting for Election Day, how we think undecideds are breaking, we have a credible pathway to all seven states tomorrow night to go into Kamala Harris’s column,” Plouffe told CNN’s Erin Burnett on Monday. “But we believe they’re all going to be close,” he added.
Responding to Burnett’s question, “But you think you could win all seven?” Plouffe confirmed, “Yes.”
Some Democrats are reportedly attributing Vice President Harris’s election loss to President Biden’s initial decision to run and his subsequent reluctance to withdraw from the race. Fox News White House senior correspondent Jacqui Heinrich reported that one source from Biden’s inner circle labeled Plouffe as a “sanctimonious ass.” Another commented, “I find this so unproductive. Joe Biden is the President of the United States and won without you. He successfully beat Donald Trump—something he never did.”
