NEW: ‘Secret’ CIA Files Claim The Ark Of The Covenant Has Been Discovered
A once-classified CIA document is reigniting one of history’s most enduring religious mysteries: the possible discovery of the Ark of the Covenant.
The file, dated December 5, 1988, comes from the CIA’s Cold War-era initiative known as “Project Sun Streak,” an experimental program that used “remote viewing”—a psychic practice aimed at visualizing distant or hidden objects. In one particular session, a government-trained remote viewer described an ornate, gold-covered chest hidden underground, guarded by mysterious entities, and sealed away from the public.
“The target is protected by entities and can only be opened (now) by those who are authorized to do so,” the psychic wrote. “This container will not/cannot be opened until the time is deemed correct.”
The CIA document, once marked “secret,” has since been declassified and is available to the public via the agency’s Electronic Reading Room. It has quickly become a viral topic.
The psychic apparently sent his consciousness beyond his physical body, jotting down everything he observed in his search for the sacred artifact.

The psychic described traveling out-of-body to a location that felt Middle Eastern, with “language spoken by individuals [that] seemed to be Arabic,” according to DailyMail. They reported seeing mosque-like structures, individuals dressed in all white, and noted details such as “black hair and dark eyes” and “one figure…wore a moustache.”
The scene took a more haunting turn as the psychic described the sacred object’s location: “underground, dark and wet.” The purpose, they said, was “to bring a people together. It has something to do with ceremony, memory, homage, the resurrection.”
“There is an aspect of spirituality, information, lessons and historical knowledge far beyond what we now know,” the psychic added.
The psychic goes on to say that when the time comes, the “mechanics of the lock system will be found to be fairly simple,” and warns that anyone who tries to open the container by prying or striking will be “destroyed by the container’s protectors through the use of a power unknown to us.”

The details match centuries-old descriptions of the Ark of the Covenant—a chest built by the Israelites under Moses’s direction to house the Ten Commandments. Made of acacia wood and overlaid with gold, the Ark featured two golden cherubim on its lid and was said to represent the physical presence of God.
It played a pivotal role during the Israelites’ exodus from Egypt and their time in the wilderness, eventually coming to rest in the Temple of Solomon in Jerusalem before vanishing from history.
Interestingly, the remote viewer mentioned “wood, gold, and silver,” as well as winged figures—echoing the Book of Exodus’s account of the Ark’s design.
While the CIA document never explicitly names Ethiopia, many researchers believe that’s where the Ark may be today. The Ethiopian Orthodox Church has long maintained that the Ark rests within the Church of Our Lady Mary of Zion in Axum. No outsider has seen it; the artifact is guarded by monks, and only one caretaker is allowed near it at a time.
Though skeptics remain unconvinced, the resurfacing of this file has reignited global curiosity.
