NEW: ICE Issues Major Progress Report On Mass Deportations
The Trump administration’s approach to immigration enforcement has taken swift action in recent days, signaling a renewed effort to crack down on illegal immigration. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has intensified operations across the country, leading to a surge in arrests and detainers lodged against individuals in the U.S. illegally.
The latest data reveals that in just two days—January 28 and January 29—nearly 2,000 arrests were made, with more than 1,600 detainers lodged. President Trump has made it clear that his administration is committed to restoring law and order at the border.
In just the first week of his administration, ICE arrested nearly 5,000 migrants, a huge increase from the daily average of 310 arrests under former President Joe Biden’s final year.
The operations symbolize President Trump’s stern commitment to law and order, mandating that ICE’s 25 field offices each conduct a minimum of 75 arrests daily, aiming for a nationwide total of at least 1,800 arrests per day.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem has been particularly visible in these efforts, participating directly in raids. Her involvement was highlighted during a high-profile operation in New York City, where she joined forces with federal authorities in a pre-dawn crackdown targeting individuals accused of serious crimes such as kidnapping and assault.

An enforcement operation in New York City served as Noem’s introduction to how ICE officials apprehend illegal immigrants charged with acts of violence. In a social media post containing video from the raid, Noem announced that she witnessed officers take an illegal alien wanted for kidnapping, assault, and burglary into custody.
“Dirtbags like this will continue to be removed from our streets,” she said.
Video of the overnight raid shows unmarked SUVs with blue and red lights blaring, while in the background, a handcuffed suspect is walked from an apartment building to one of the vehicles by officers.

Noem was confirmed by the U.S. Senate in a 59-34 vote that saw seven Democrats break rank and vote to confirm the former South Dakota governor to head up DHS.
Television personality Dr. Phil also joined an ICE raid in Chicago. He joined ICE Border Czar Tom Homan on arrest and deportation operations in Chicago, where they tackled misconceptions about ICE’s methods.
During their patrol, Dr. Phil inquired about operations in sensitive areas like schools, which Homan denied. They discussed the impact of politicians’ actions, which could inadvertently force ICE into community operations, increasing collateral detentions.

Homan insisted that maintaining public safety was paramount, and stressed the importance of media discretion in protecting the identities of ICE officers from potential retaliation. The operation led them to arrest a sex offender from Thailand.
President Trump’s orders have also eliminated previous restrictions on ICE operations in sensitive locations, including schools, churches, and hospitals, expanding the enforcement landscape. Moreover, the administration has empowered other federal agencies like the DEA and U.S. Marshals Service with immigration enforcement authority, further amplifying its capacity to handle widespread operations.
