Netflix's Happy Gilmore 2 Trailer: Travis Kelce's Cameo, Cast
Netflix gave golf fans and Adam Sandler movie buffs alike an exciting gift on Christmas Day 2024: the first look at Happy Gilmore 2. The streaming service dropped the first teaser trailer for the sequel to Adam’s 1996 sports comedy film, featuring cameos from Travis Kelce and Bad Bunny. In addition to these famous faces, the cast is filled with a star-studded lineup. The teaser was just enough to get fans hyped up and wondering who else they’d see in Happy Gilmore 2 and what else to expect.
Who Is in the Cast of ‘Happy Gilmore 2’?
Of course, there would be no Happy Gilmore 2 without Adam reprising his role as the titular ice hockey player-turned-golfer. The comedian also cowrote the screenplay, just as he did for the original film.
Other returning stars include Christopher McDonald as Shooter McGavin, Julie Bowen as Virginia Venit, Dennis Dugan as Doug Thompson, Allen Covert as Otto and Ben Stiller as Hal L.
The sequel will also introduce some new faces, including Jake Hoffman as Happy’s caddy and Maxwell Jacob Friedman, Scott Mescudi, Bad Bunny, Margaret Qualley, Benny Safdie and Nick Swardson in roles that have yet to be revealed.
The details of Travis’ cameo have also been kept under wraps. Travis teased the possibility of his involvement in the project during a May 2024 episode of his and brother Jason Kelce’s “New Heights” podcast.
“Theories can be true and people just don’t know about it. I might even be in the talking and nobody knows about it, but I could also not be in the talking,” he said.
In August, Adam confirmed to Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show that Travis would have a cameo in the film. “We have a nice something for Travis,” the Billy Madison star explained. “He’s gonna come by. He’s a very nice guy. You guys would love him in real life. What a big, handsome guy. Funny and cool as hell. He’s a stud and he’s so funny.”
A source exclusively told Life & Style that one reason for Adam bringing Travis onto Happy Gilmore 2 was to make his teen daughters, Sadie and Sunny, happy, as they’re both huge fans of Travis’ girlfriend, Taylor Swift.
“Adam knows that bringing Travis in on the film also brings him into Taylor’s world,” the insider said in September. “Since Sadie and Sunny will have small parts in this movie, like some of Adam’s other films, they’re banking on Taylor showing up to cheer on Travis when he shoots his scene!”
Other celebrities who are set to appear in Happy Gilmore 2 include Eminem, talk show host Dan Patrick, and pro golfers Keegan Bradley, John Daly, Rickie Fowler, Collin Morikawa, Jack Nicklaus, Corey Pavin, Xander Schauffele, Jordan Spieth and Lee Trevino.
Is There a Trailer for ‘Happy Gilmore 2’?
Netflix dropped the first brief teaser on December 25, 2024. The video showed Adam as Happy, making a golf shot in his famous Bruins jersey. Additionally, Travis’ character appeared for a moment, telling Happy, “It’s good to have you back, Mr. Gilmore.” Elsewhere in the trailer, Bad Bunny’s character could be seen spinning around and clapping his hands.
When Does ‘Happy Gilmore 2’ Premiere on Netflix?
Though the movie does not have an official premiere date yet, Netflix has revealed that Happy Gilmore 2 will arrive on the streaming platform in 2025.
