Nebraska Bill Would Stop Using Aborted Baby Parts for Research

0

The Health and Human Services Committee voted 5-0 to advance LB 632 from Senator Ben Hansen. It requires any health care facility performing abortions to dispose of the remains of aborted unborn children by cremation or burial, ensuring respect and dignity are given to the child whose life was lost.

Senator Dan Lonowski of Hastings has chosen LB 632 bill as his 2025 priority bill, meaning the bill has a higher chance of reaching the floor for debate.

Update on LB 512:

LB 512 (Senator Rick Holdcroft) was also voted 5-2 to advance from the Health and Human Services Committee. This bill would require doctors to screen pregnant women for ectopic pregnancies and schedule a follow-up appointment within 28 days after prescribing the abortion pill. LB 512 did not receive a priority designation, but we are hopeful on this path forward in protecting women’s health this year!
