Musk reached out to Tucker’s team about bringing his show to Twitter within an hour of Fox firing

Tucker Carlson revealed that his team was contacted by billionaire Twitter/X owner Elon Musk nearly immediately after he was fired from his job at Fox News with an invitation to take his show to the social media platform.

The news that the conservative network had cut ties with its highly-rated host came as a huge shock when it was suddenly announced earlier this year and while leftists gloated, Carlson soon landed back on his feet and is more popular than ever with his “Tucker on X” show where he has featured interviews that are free from the meddling of network producers and execs.

During his most recent interview with Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy, Carlson opened up about his ouster from Fox News and how Musk reached out to his crew within an hour of his termination.

“Have you been surprised?” Portnoy asked. “It seems as if your microphone has gotten quite a bit larger. Have you been surprised by that?”

“No I’ve been grateful for it,” Carlson answered. “Within hours of getting the boot, thankfully, they fired my executive producer, Justin Wells, like within four minutes of firing me. He really didn’t do anything wrong. He was the best producer in all of television and everyone knew it,”

“And Fox has a lot of nice people, a lot of very incompetent people obviously running it. And he was one of the only competent people in the whole business, but they fired him, too,” he continued. “And within I don’t know, an hour of that happening, Elon called him and said, ‘You should come to Twitter.’ So I’ll never stop being grateful for that.”

“We don’t work for Elon or anything, but we’re using the site like everyone else uses it which is as a platform that’s not censored and I’m super grateful for that,” Carlson said. ”

“I do think the downside to social media is you can get involved in like people’s responses to it,” Tucker added.” That’s soul death.”

“So do you just ignore it all?” Portnoy asked.

“I really try to,” Carlson replied. “I know who I am for all of my many faults, I know who I am. And I don’t need other people to tell me who I am.”

Carlson also opened up about his former employer, telling Portnoy that the Murdochs, who have a controlling interest in the company that owns Fox News weren’t the problem, but rather the “fearful women” who run the company were.

“I mean, the Murdochs were always nice, They never got in my way at all. They were always super nice to me. But there were, you know, small-mind– it’s a company run by fearful women. You know what I mean?” Carlson said.

“And there were always like, you know, second-tier people who were hassling my producers. But no one ever called me. I got along with everybody, but I mean, I think they knew like, the censorship, don’t welcome that. You know? So, but they never actually got in the way of anything,” he added.
