Around 150 property rights leaders convened in Fort Worth, Texas to attend the “Land and Liberty Conference” on February 13-14. Drawn from every corner of the country, these activists shared strategies, fomented relationships, shared war stories, and listened to top-notch speakers that included Trump Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins, Congressman Harriett Hageman, and Texas Commissioner of Agriculture Sid Miller.
CFACT was a platinum co-sponsor and prominent feature of the event, which was hosted by Dan and Margaret Byfield who head American Stewards of Liberty. The Committee hosted an hour and a half panel featuring CFACT President Craig Rucker and Director of Communications Marc Morano, as well as the Heartland Institute’s James Taylor and Sterling Burnett.
“The Green movement has undergone a transition,” noted Rucker, “one that moved from wise conservation and stewardship of the land- a position held by everyone a 100 years ago- to one that now promotes a far-Left political agenda that is decidedly anti-human and anti-freedom. We need to reclaim the mantle of ‘wise stewardship’ and save the environmental movement from itself.”
Beyond the climate-focused panel, workshops covered critical topics such as energy security, property rights, the financial exploitation of America’s natural resources, reopening federal lands for productive use, and effective strategies for defending landowner rights at both the federal and state levels.
The attendees also took some time to enjoy Texas hospitality as well. On Friday evening they were shuttled off to enjoy some barbecue and serenaded by country singer Clare Dunn. After they had more than their fill, many then boot scooted off to the nearby Ft. Worth Stockyards to take in a rodeo.
This is the third time in recent years this event has taken place, and many attendees considered it the best one yet. “I can feel the momentum building since our first gathering in Lincoln, Nebraska,” Morano noted. “President Trump’s influence is clearly energizing the movement. I can’t wait for next year!”
