MIT Class President BANNED From Graduation After Turning Speech Into Woke Pro-Palestinian Protest | JP

MIT’s 2025 Class President Megha Vemuri has just been banned from the campus’s graduation following a political stunt she pulled last week.

On Thursday, Vemuri took advantage of the privilege the university gave her to give a speech at a commencement event.

Instead of delivering words of wisdom to her classmates or thanking those who helped them along their journey, Vemuri hijacked the podium to push a woke, pro-Palestinian agenda.

At one point, she even accused MIT of taking part in wiping “Palestine from the face of the Earth.”

Watch her speech for yourself right here:

Ironically, Vendi is a Hindu. And yet, she cares nothing for her own people’s persecution at the hands of the same people she supports…

This X user shared some excellent insight:

Megha Vemuri, President of MIT’s Class of 2025, got up on stage during her graduation—not to thank her classmates or talk about their hard work—but to give a speech on Palestine.

Yes, because nothing says “leader” like using someone else’s special day to push your own political drama.

She calls herself a Hindu, but says nothing about poor Bangladeshi Hindus who are killed, raped, and thrown out of their homes. Maybe their pain isn’t “cool” enough for her American friends?

These types of woke students love shouting “Free Palestine” from a safe, air-conditioned college stage in the USA. But if they really cared, they’d go to Gaza and help people directly. Israel isn’t going to change its mind because a student in America gave a speech in a graduation gown. But hey, it’s easier to act brave when you’re safe and comfortable.

This isn’t activism. This is drama for claps, likes, and career points.

Because today, speaking for trendy causes is easy. Speaking for your own people? That takes real courage—and Megha clearly left that behind.

Not only is this an incredibly dumb move from a university student stuck in her own little woke echo chamber, but it’s completely unfair to the other graduating students.

Imagine being a Jewish student listening to that speech.

In fact, there were many Jewish and Israeli students and families in that audience, who were there to share a special moment at the end of their college journey.

Instead, they got called “genociders.” Many of them walked out on Vemuri’s speech.

Fox News reported:

One graduating Israeli student, who wished to remain anonymous, told Fox News Digital, “All of our families came from far to see the ceremony and were extremely disappointed. All the Jewish families, not only the Israelis, stepped out and left the ceremony. MIT administration approved and supported that.”

MIT says that the official reason Vemuri is banned for attending graduation is because she gave a speech that was different than the one she submitted to the university for approval.

Per The New York Times:

School officials confirmed that they later told Ms. Vemuri that she was prohibited from attending the undergraduate ceremony on Friday.

“MIT supports free expression but stands by its decision, which was in response to the individual deliberately and repeatedly misleading Commencement organizers and leading a protest from the stage,” a school spokesperson said in a statement.

The school said that Ms. Vemuri, who grew up in Georgia, will receive her degree. Sarat Vemuri, her father, said that she was a double major, in computation and cognition and linguistics, and was told that she will receive her diploma by mail.

What do you think?

Do you agree with MIT’s decision to ban Megha Vemuri from her graduation ceremony?
