Melania Trump Announces Major Documentary With Amazon
In her first major public initiative since returning to the White House, Melania Trump is teaming up with Amazon Studios to produce a documentary about her philanthropic efforts and life after serving as the nation’s first lady. The project will provide a rare glimpse into the personal and professional endeavors of one of the most private figures to inhabit the White House in modern history.
Amazon Prime secured exclusive rights for a documentary offering an “unprecedented behind-the-scenes look” at First Lady Melania Trump’s life, according to Fox News. The film is set for a global release in theaters and on streaming platforms in the latter half of 2025. Filming commenced in December 2024.
The documentary is a collaborative effort with the First Lady-elect and Fernando Sulichin of New Element Media serving as executive producers, and Brett Ratner of RatPac Entertainment directing the project. Prime Video plans to provide updates on the project as filming progresses and will announce finalized release plans in due course.
“Amazon Prime Video has exclusively licensed an upcoming documentary film for both theatrical and streaming release that will give viewers an unprecedented, behind-the-scenes look at First Lady Melania Trump,” an Amazon Spokesperson said in a statement. “The project is executive produced by Fernando Sulichin (New Element Media) and Mrs. Trump – with Brett Ratner (RatPac Entertainment) attached to direct.”
“Filming began in December 2024, with an anticipated release in the second half of 2025. Prime Video will be sharing more details on the project as filming progresses and release plans are finalized. We are excited to share this truly unique story with our millions of customers around the world.”
The collaboration with Amazon Studios marks a notable foray into mainstream media for Melania, whose public appearances have been scarce since her husband left office in 2021. Since also leaving Washington, Melania has remained mainly out of the spotlight, residing at the couple’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida. She has made occasional appearances at select events, often related to her husband’s political ventures or personal milestones. However, the documentary is a renewed focus on carving out her own legacy, separate from the political tumult of her husband’s ongoing influence in the Republican Party.
A former model and businesswoman who became the First Lady of the United States during Trump’s presidency from 2017 to 2021, Melania grew up in Sevnica, a small town in Slovenia. She later pursued studies in design and architecture at the University of Ljubljana before transitioning to a modeling career. Fluent in several languages, she worked internationally in fashion capitals such as Milan and Paris before moving to New York City in the 1990s. In 1998, she met Donald Trump, and the couple married in 2005, welcoming their son, Barron, the following year. As First Lady, she focused on initiatives promoting child welfare, including her “Be Best” campaign, while maintaining a reputation for her reserved and private demeanor.
