Mayor Eric Adams Hints at Switching to Republican Party After Vowing to Support Trump Agenda
Democrat New York City Mayor Eric Adams recently refused to rule out returning to the Republican Party, just days after vowing to support President-elect Donald Trump‘s deportation efforts.
Adams appeared on “Mornings On 1” to celebrate a landmark achievement after a slim majority of the City Council greenlit his “City of Yes” housing initiative.
Adams gave an interesting response when asked if he’d ever “consider rejoining the GOP.”
“The party that’s the most important for me is the American party. I’m a part of the American party. I love this country,” Adams said.
“This is the home of the free, the land of the brave,” Adams said.
“My 19-year-old [uncle] died on the fields of Vietnam protecting what this city and this country represents. And that’s the party I’m going to always be a member of.”
“And I did it as a police officer when I wore that bulletproof vest for 22 years. And I’m gonna do it with this blue suit as the mayor of the city of New York,” he finished.

While Adams later confirmed his plans to seek reelection as a Democrat, he did leave open the possibility of switching parties in the future.
“We need to move away from identifying, classifying ourselves as anything other than Americans. I’m an American, and I’m going to continue to say that,” he said.
“So no matter what party I’m on or vote on, I’m going to push for the American values.”

“I’ve been a Democrat for many years, and I’m going to run for my reelection as a Democrat,” he said.
“But my focus is the American people and the people of New York City,” Adams continued. “And those who don’t like it, they would cancel me. And I say, cancel me. I’m for America.”
Earlier this week, Adams vowed to work with Trump and his Border Czar, Tom Homan, on their plan to deport illegal aliens from the city.
Homan has been tasked with deporting millions of illegal aliens, mainly military-age males, that flooded the United States under the Biden-Harris administration.
“Those who are here, committing crimes, shooting at police officers, raping innocent people, have been a harm to our country, I want to sit down and hear their plan on how to address them,” Eric Adams said.
“Those are the people I’m talking.
“I would love to sit down with the border czar and hear his thoughts on how we are going to address those harming our citizens,” Adams said.
“Find out what his plans are, where our common grounds are. We can work together about and I would love to sit down with the Border Czar and hear his thoughts on how we are going to address those who are harming our citizens.”
