Mass Casualties Confirmed After College Taking pictures In Canada
At least 10 people are dead and 27 others are wounded after a mass shooting at the Tumbler Ridge Secondary School and a connected residence in northeastern British Columbia, Canada.
According to officials with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), officers responded to reports of an active shooter at the school around 1:20 p.m. Mountain Standard Time. Upon arrival, which occurred within two minutes of the initial call, they discovered six deceased individuals inside the school building, according to a report from the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation.
One additional victim succumbed to injuries while being transported to a medical facility, while two deceased victims were found at a nearby residence believed to be linked to the event. The suspect was also found deceased at the school from self-inflicted gunshot wounds.
The suspect was described by police as a female with brown hair. According to a report from The Guardian, the shooter’s identity has been identified but is being withheld from the public as of this report.
Superintendent Ken Floyd, the North District commander for the British Columbia RCMP, stated during a press briefing that the scene was “very dramatic” with several casualties. He added that investigators were currently working to determine a motive.

In addition to the 10 confirmed deceased victims — a figure that includes the shooter — an additional 27 people were injured in the attack. B.C. Emergency Health Services confirmed that more than two dozen individuals were assessed at the local health center, which activated a Code Orange protocol for mass casualties, the CBC reported.
Tumbler Ridge is a small municipality with a population of about 2,400, situated in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, roughly 1,155 kilometers northeast of Vancouver. Tumbler Ridge Secondary School, operated by School District 59 Peace River South, boasts 175 students between the grades of 7 to 12.
In response to the incident, the school district announced that all elementary and secondary schools in Tumbler Ridge would remain closed for the remainder of the week.
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney expressed his condolences in a statement, saying he was “devastated” by the news. He went on to offer “gratitude for the courage and selflessness of the first responders who risked their lives to protect their fellow citizens.”
The prime minister also cancelled a planned trip to Europe in order to respond to the shooting.
