Marxist Seattle councilor who defunded police demands protection against feces-smearing vandals at her home
The following includes editorial content which is the opinion of the writer.
SEATTLE, WA- What’s the saying? What goes around, comes around? You just gotta love karma.
Such is the case for a far-left Seattle councilwoman who in 2020 led the charge to defund the Seattle Police Department, sucking up to the Antifa wing of the Democratic Party. As the infamous Obama pastor Jeremiah Wright once famously said, “the chickens are coming home…to roost.”
Kshama Sawant, who was one of the leading voices to undermine the Seattle police, even as the city was falling into virtual anarchy. Well fast forward a couple of years and Sawant is now begging police protect her home due to repeated acts of vandalism, The Post Millennial reports.
What has Sawant’s Marxist undergarments in a bunch? Apparently, unknown persons have been throwing feces at her home, a source told The Post Millennial.
That source told the outlet that the Seattle Police Department responded to Sawant’s home and took a report, however she is now requesting a “permanent patrol presence monitoring her place from 5pm-10pm every day.”
So like a typical liberal (or in this case Marxist), Sawant doesn’t want the police to protect her constituents. She expects them to protect her. This runs along the lines of what Missouri Rep. Cori Bush (D) has done, advocating for the defunding of police while she spends in excess of $100,000 in campaign funds on security for herself.
This isn’t Sawant’s first rodeo in requesting special treatment for herself from the Seattle Police Department. For example in December 2020, as riots related to the George Floyd death in Minneapolis from a variety of causes continued, Sawant demanded, not asked for special police protection after she received “threats.” It was eventually revealed that Sawant had used the threats basically as a publicity stunt before she contacted the Seattle PD.
During the height of the Floyd riots, Sawant was one of the voices in Seattle leading the charge to defund police in the city. She eventually got her wish, with hundreds of officers voluntarily leaving the department either through retirement or just quitting. Some moved on to cities where their services might be appreciated.

What was the result? As happened in other Democrat-run cities which jumped on the “defund the police” bandwagon, crime skyrocketed in the city. In 2021, the city had a record number of homicides and there is a good chance this year’s numbers will surpass last year’s. Rapes and assaults have also escalated, with 911 response times steadily climbing, while many residents have claimed they have been put on hold awaiting police.
How radical is Sawant? During the Floyd riots in 2020, she used her key to allow violent protesters into Seattle City Hall after hours, resulting in the mob occupying the building while it was closed to the public due to the COVID pandemic.
Antifa and BLM have broken into Seattle city hall
Despite their mayor @MayorJenny being beyond progressive
They are demanding she resign since she won’t defund the Police
This is the new normal in big cities of America

She also led a group of violent rioters at the time a bunch of unhinged radicals occupied several city blocks, which became as known initially as CHAZ and then CHOP (or vice-versa). Either way, the city turned over several blocks of city streets to a group of radical leftists.
Sawant also thought it prudent to lead a group of rioters to the home of then-Mayor Jenny Durkan, whose home address was kept confidential from her time as U.S. attorney. That stunt resulted in rioters vandalizing Durkan’s home.
Sawant set up tents inside thee so-called “autonomous zone” where her staff collected signatures for a ballot initiative.
According to the Daily Mail in 2020, Sawant, a driving force behind the autonomous zone, railed against gentrification in Seattle, despite being married to an engineer at Microsoft. According to a tweet at the time:
Our movement needs to urgently ensure East Precinct is not handed back to police, but is turned over permanently into community control. My office is bringing legislation to convert East Precinct into a community center for restorative justice. The movement has been undaunted in the face of horrific violence from Mayor Durkan’s police. Congratulations solidarity!
The Post Millennial reached out to Sawant’s office for comment, however none was received.
It’s really hilarious when left-wing radicals like Sawant get to enjoy the fruits of what they have created. Or the crap they’ve created, as the case may be.

NEW YORK CITY, NY – Incoming New York City Comptroller Brad Lander is taking an NYPD security detail even though he wants to slash funding for the police department.

As riots erupted across the county over the murder of George Floyd by a former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin, Lander sent an open letter to his constituents in June 2020, titled, “My commitment to working to defund the NYPD,” the New York Post reported.
The memo called for slashing the department’s budget by $1 billion.
When the annual spending bill passed by the city council in June increased the New York City Police Department’s budget by $200 million to combat out-of-control crime, then-councilman Lander opposed the bill. He said:
“I’m also disturbed that this agreement increases the NYPD budget by nearly $200 million and increases headcount at both NYPD and the Department of Corrections.
“All neighborhoods need and deserve to be safe, and we must confront rising levels of gun violence.”

He added that more money should be taken from the police and given to other programs:
“But New York City already has more police officers per capita than nearly every large American city, according to the Vera Institute of Justice.
In this moment, we should instead be investing more in other strategies for genuine community safety, including mental health care, supportive housing, cure violence programs, school guidance counselors, and youth jobs.”
Lander praised attempts by Minneapolis’ City Council to shut down its police department during the violence and calls for justice reform in the summer of 2020, which voters rejected.
Lander will be leaving his post on the council to take on the elected position as New York City Comptroller.
Despite being a vocal supporter of defunding the police, he will be using them for his own personal protection detail when he begins his term.
His spokesman, Naomi Dann, defended his decision to use the security detail:
“As he steps into citywide office, Brad is grateful to the city workers who keep the Comptroller’s office and City government running, including the officers assigned to his security by the NYPD.
“There’s no contradiction between believing that some of our public safety dollars would be better spent on supportive housing, mental health services, and restorative justice programs — and following longstanding NYPD protocol regarding safety for elected officials.”

An NYPD source with more than two decades on the job told the New York Post that Lander is a hypocrite:
“He’s the guy who hates the cops. If you don’t like cops, don’t use them.
“Crime is at an all-time high and now you’re going to give him 12 to 14 cops? You’ve gotta (sic) give them vacation, sick time. All that for this guy, who nobody really knows. Would anyone know him if he was walking down the street?”
New York City has faced an uptick in crime amid a national crime surge in cities across the country. There have been 100,730 total criminal complaints in 2021 for the period up to Sunday, a year-to-date increase from 94,916 year-to-date complaints in 2020, according to the NYPD.

The city has reported 479 murders and 13,575 robberies in 2021, up from 460 murders and 12,963 robberies up to the same date in 2020.
The Post exclusively reported in April that Lander has been caught speeding in school zones eight times in the past five years, despite crusading against reckless drivers. Perhaps having a security detail to drive him around the city is not such a bad idea.

NY governor candidate who advocated to defund police gets free NYPD security detail, lives on military base
December 3, 2021
The following contains editorial content which is the opinion of the author, a retired Chief of Police and current Law Enforcement Today staff writer.
NEW YORK CITY- One thing we’ve noticed here at Law Enforcement Today is that many of the loudest voices calling for the defunding of police make sure they themselves enjoy safety and security. Such is the case of one defund the police zealot, New York gubernatorial hopeful Jumaane Williams.
According to the New York Post, Williams—one of the loudest loudmouths last year to defund the NYPD—himself enjoys the benefit of his own personal NYPD security detail while he lives in what amounts to a gated community at the Fort Hamilton US Army Garrison in Brooklyn, New York. Oh, he’s also called for slashing the Defense Department’s budget. You’ve gotta love hypocrites.
In another piece of delicious irony, Williams—a self-proclaimed “racial justice advocate—lives just off General Lee Avenue, named after Confederate general Robert. E. Lee.
Williams was elected as New York City’s public advocate in 2019 after he served on the New York City Council, Fox News reports. He has described himself as a Democratic socialist and is running as governor of New York under a platform of bringing “transformational change to Albany,” according to his campaign website.
Fox reports that Fort Hamilton is one of the most protected areas in New York City and requires anyone attempting entry to submit to a background check and go through security checkpoints. He has the benefit of a free NYPD security detail by virtue of his position with the city. That didn’t stop him last year from criticizing the NYPD’s “measly” $1 billion funding cut as being “insufficient.”
When the issue of Williams’ housing arrangement was raised, a representative said the “affordability” of the housing appealed to Williams and his family.
“When he needed a new home for his family in 2019, they chose a publicly available unit in Fort Hamilton not because of its position on a base but because it offered the best unit for his family’s price point and criteria,” the representative told the New York Post.
Fox News reports that Williams lives in a corner town home with his wife, who works as a lobbyist as well as his stepdaughter and costs roughly $4,000 per month, which is considered very affordable in New York City.
Fox says the home has views of the Verrazano Narrows, and includes benefits such as free parking, a swimming pool, dry cleaners, a gas station, barbershop, a bowling center, and various chain restaurants. The installation also includes historic cannons, World War II artillery and modern Humvees adorning it.
The Army installation offers 228 homes, with 15% of them occupied by civilians. While the housing opportunities are open to the public, most New York residents are unaware of the option. A number of prominent city residents live in the garrison, including judges and doctors.
Similar property on surrounding city streets rent at close to $5,800 per month.
“These aren’t apartments listed on Zillow. It’s essentially a gated community with stunning waterfront views protected by tanks and soldiers with M16s,” an official with knowledge of the housing protest told the Post.
“The suggestion that his work to protect, promote, and reimagine public safety would change with his addressed is belied by his record on these issues for over a decade—that work continues as he advocates for policies to advance community in neighborhoods citywide,” Williams’ representative continued.
Some however slammed Williams’ sheer hypocrisy concerning the free police detail and secure housing.
“You’re saying defund the police but yet you’ve got the police with you every day taking you all over on the taxpayer’s dime? And then you live on a military base and you’re protected by the military? That’s a joke…what a hypocrite. Not a lot of people get those luxuries,” a police source told the Post.
A resident of Bay Ridge, located just outside the Army base calls it “very hypocritical” for Williams to avail himself of a police security detail and to live on the base while calling for defunding of both the police and the military.
“I feel like it’s a situation where regular citizens are not allowed to defend ourselves, and people like our elected officials can,” said the resident, Joseph Rolland. “What I would say to the elected officials is if you’re so anti-police and so anti-gun, then you should give up all of those privileges that allow you to protect yourself.”
“I’m not upset that he gets to protect himself on a military base as long as the citizens of the city can also protect themselves, whether it’s through private security or our police department, which we pay taxes for,” he told the Post.
The paper reported that Williams earns $183,801 annually in his current position. Fox reached out to his office for comment, however no response was received.
