“Lunatic” Lawmaker Under Fire for Inciting Violence Against ICE in LA
Rep. Norma Torres (D-CA) faced brutal backlash after posting an explosive message directing federal immigration agents to leave Los Angeles during violent protests.
The California Democratic lawmaker posted a video on TikTok declaring “ICE get the f— out of LA so that order can be restored” as riots erupted across the city.
Torres, who became a U.S. citizen in the 1990s after immigrating from Guatemala, faced immediate criticism from conservative voices who accused her of encouraging violence against federal officers.
The congresswoman’s statement came as protests against immigration raids descended into violent confrontations with federal agents throughout Los Angeles.
Torres’ social media post ignited a harsh reaction from conservatives, with numerous influential voices condemning her language and position.
The conservative influencer account Libs of TikTok highlighted Torres’ position, posting “This is a sitting member of Congress” on X.
Conservative influencer Paul Szypula also responded, writing, “Torres is a sitting member of Congress and a complete lunatic” on the social media platform.
Meanwhile, White House director of communications Steven Cheung characterized the congresswoman’s statement as “demonic possession” in his X post.
Conservative influencer Benny Johnson jumped in, calling Torres “deranged” while several users, including Sen. Wendy Rogers (R-AZ), demanded her expulsion from Congress.
MAGA influencer account Catturd posted “Arrest her now” in response to Torres’ video message.
Author James Lindsay accused Torres of being a communist, posting “Found a Communist in Congress” on X.
The ill timing of Torres’ statement came as violence against federal immigration enforcement officers erupted.
President Trump deployed 2,000 National Guard soldiers across the city to “keep peace” and prevent a repeat of 2020 unrest when Minnesota’s Democratic governor “let his city burn.”
ICE officers became victims of violence during the riots, being hit by rocks and projectile attacks.
Federal sources warned that agents’ lives were at risk from flying debris during the violent confrontations with protesters.
