Love Island USA Season 5 Winners Marco Donatelli, Hannah Wright Engaged

An engaged couple has exited the villa! Love Island USA stars Marco Donatelli and Hannah Wright announced their engagement only two years after being crowned the season 5 winners.

“To my forever, last night, I asked the love of my life to be mine forever and she said, ‘Yes,’” Marco, wrote in a lengthy tribute to his fiancée via Instagram on Thursday, May 29. “From the very first moment we met, we were inseparable. Through every high, every challenge, every laugh and every tear we’ve done it all side by side.”

The Love Island USA star told his followers that both he and Hannah had experienced the loss of a parent, but believed that the shared grief helped strengthen their bond.

“I truly believe my mom sent me you. I see her love in your heart. I feel her peace in your touch,” he wrote. “And I know, without a doubt, your dad has been watching over us step by step, second by second leading us right to this moment.”

“You are my light. My rock. My best friend. My home. I can’t wait to spend forever with you, Hannah. Here’s to the next chapter and every one after that,” the Peacock star signed off.

Fans were first introduced to Marco and Hannah’s love story on season 5 of Love Island USA, which premiered in the summer of 2023. Hannah came as a bombshell during episode 2 and their connection was instant. Marco and Hannah coupled up on day three of the show and their instant chemistry quickly sparked rumors in the villa that the pair were “game playing.”

“When people say that, I know it’s not true, so I could care less if people say that we plotted to win. We’ve just been ourselves the whole time,” Hannah exclusively told Life & Style after the August 2023 finale. “We made it to the finals – Marco didn’t even know how the money thing worked at the end. He didn’t know how somebody gets an envelope [full of the cash prize.] So, that just kind of shows how it wasn’t something on our minds until it had to be in the final moments.”

Marco told Life & Style that the calculated rumors didn’t “bother” him because he had “thick skin” and even affirmed back then, that his romance with Hannah was the real deal.

“Just the journey throughout when I met her, just climbing that mountain together. When you climb a mountain, at some point you’re going to reach the top of the mountain. The only thing you can do is look us down,” he explained. “So, to see everything else in that process, unwind saying that we’re applying to win, they must’ve missed the fight to get to the top of the mountain, but all we can do right now is look down.”

Hannah and Marco’s relationship was put to the test when Marco’s ex-girlfriend, Hannah Ortega, entered the villa. Despite the unexpected twist, the couple managed to overcome the obstacle and grow even stronger. They joined fan-favorite stars Kassy Castillo and Leonardo Dionicio, Carmen Kocourek and Kenzo Nudo and Taylor Smith and Carsten “Bergie” Bergersen in the finals and were ultimately crowned the winners.

Love Island USA season 7 premieres Tuesday, June 3, at 9 p.m. ET on Peacock.
