Love Is Blind’s Monica Is Still ‘in Communication’ With Stephen
Fans saw Love Is Blind stars Monica Davis and Stephen Richardson end their engagement on a bad note after she discovered sexually explicit texts he sent to another woman while they were together. However, Monica revealed that the two still talk from time to time.
“We are in communication — not often. There’s not a lot of depth there by any means, but we communicate,” Monica, 37, told Nick Viall during “The Viall Files” episode on Thursday, October 10. “I think that [Stephen being caught texting another woman] is something that we continue to work through. You’ll hear more at the reunion.”
As for the upcoming reunion, Monica implied that fans might actually see some fireworks due to all of the drama that has erupted off-camera with the stars of Love Is Blind season 7. She also admitted that she and Stephen will be having some major conversations regarding the texts he sent.
“I would really want to understand if, truly [and] genuinely, he was being honest,” Monica told the former Bachelor star. “Did he come on this show of actually leaving with a wife? That’s my biggest question. I think he would have been happy to leave with a girlfriend, but I don’t think he was looking for marriage. I think the reunion is going to be wild.”
Monica also opened up about Stephen’s alleged sleep test. When Monica addressed the texts during Love Is Blind, Stephen, 34, claimed that he sent them while he was “drunk at a sleep test.” Fans were immediately confused on what exactly was a sleep test and if it was a legitimate medical test, how one could be drunk while taking it.
Monica explained that the sleep test had been “on the books for a while” and it had something to do “with Stephen’s insurance.”
“He did send me a picture while he was there,” Monica continued. “I still have trauma from my past so I was like, ‘He faked this picture. It’s not from yesterday.’ So, I went up and you can see the location and the time, so he really was, but, like, I don’t know. I’ve never done a sleep test, but, like, God, I definitely wouldn’t think my fiancé was getting hot and bothered and horny during a sleep test.”
In a previous interview with Entertainment Weekly, Monica claimed that there was no way Stephen could have been “drunk” while completing the sleep test.
“We’d had a date that day, had some drinks. Stephen was not drunk,” Monica told the publication in the interview published on Thursday, October 10. “It’s not like he was drinking there without me. I know what he drank and what state of mind he was in when he went and we’d had a couple drinks that evening. I think that he was just using that as an excuse for his behavior.”
However, Monica confessed that she was already having some reservations about their relationship before she discovered the texts.
“Any doubts were what you see in some of these episodes, some of the comments that you see, the jokes which I thought were jokes,” she explained to the outlet. “You can see it in my face at times. You love this person so much, but you’re still learning them, and what are you willing to sleep under the rug? I really wanted to make it work.”
