Love Is Blind’s Dave and Lauren Joke About Being ‘Least Messy Exes’
Love Is Blind star David “Dave” Bettenburg was surprised when he and ex-fiancée Lauren O’Brien ended up being the exes with the least amount of drama once the cameras stopped rolling on season 8.
“So, Lauren texted me this afternoon and she was like, ‘Isn’t it crazy that after all this, we are the least messy couple of all the exes?’” Dave, 33, said in a TikTok video he posted on March 14. “Funny how that works, right? And we just kind of laughed about that.”
The medical device salesman continued by saying he “didn’t know who needs to hear this” before retracting the statement.
“I do know who needs to hear this. Putting others down for your own personal gain, that ain’t it, people. After everything we’ve been through as a group, I know everybody wants to protect their own image, but if you’re doing it for your own clout and you gotta drag others down with you to do that, I’m sorry. That’s just not it,” he concluded.
Dave didn’t specify who he was addressing in the video or if he was referring to fans of Love Is Blind or some of his fellow cast members. However, since the reunion premiered on March 9, a few of his season 8 costars have been throwing shade at their exes online.
On March 12, Monica Danús seemingly took a jab at her ex Joey Leveille with a reference to the surprising villain Tamlin from the popular book series A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas.
“Remember when we all liked Tamlin in book one?” Monica, 28, said in an Instagram Reel. “Yeah, we wait for our Rhys … and Cassian.”
The following day, Love Is Blind star Ben Mezzenga clapped back at his ex-fiancée Sara Carton’s accusations that he sent her “scripted apologies” after their breakup.
“Sara and I did agree to keep dating after the altar, which is why when I asked her if she’d like to keep growing in this relationship with me together, her saying ‘We’ll see,’ caught me off guard,” Ben said in a TikTok video posted on March 13.
The former baseball star, 28, also shared screenshots of his alleged conversations with Sara, 29, in an effort to show fans that they weren’t scripted.
“Hey, I want to apologize for just removing location stuff out of the blue and not calling you on your drive to [Nashville],” one apology read. “I do care about you a lot and I am just wanting to protect my heart. I cried a lot yesterday morning and today, and I know there are things I should’ve done better yesterday. I am just trying to do my best with respecting you and stay on good terms and still care for my own feelings.”
Sara fired back with her own TikTok video that included screenshots of alleged text messages from Ben and claimed that his use of “the same language” as her made her “question the sincerity” of the apologies.
Fans saw Dave and Lauren’s relationship crumble after he struggled with the fact that she had been in a casual relationship with a man he had mutual friends with shortly before coming on the show. Dave’s sister also played a big role in why he felt like he couldn’t move forward with marrying Lauren, 31, because she didn’t approve of their relationship. While things seemed a little tense during the Love Is Blind season 8 reunion, fans were surprised to hear about all the drama that went down behind the scenes with the other couples.
