Left-Wing Media Panics as Claims That Bridgette Macron 'Is a Man' Go Mainstream
A recent report from the British left-leaning news outlet The Telegraph has said that claims that Emmanuel Macron’s wife, Brigitte Macron, is a man could damage international relations between the United States and France.
The claims come from an article published by the French journal Faits et Documents in 2021, which asserts that the French First Lady, 71, and her brother, Jean-Michel Trogneux, are actually the same person.
The article claims that Trogneux was actually Brigitte, who transitioned to female at the age of 30 before going on to date Macron when he was 15, at the ripe old age of 40.
Conservative commentator Candace Owens later picked up on the story, describing the issue as “the biggest scandal that has ever happened in politics in human history.”
Owens later conducted a whole series of investigations into the scandal and even received a cease-and-desist letter from the French President, demanding she stop talking about the subject.
Watch:
In the letter, Macron told Owens her comments were “defamatory” and that Brigitte doesn’t need to prove she is a biological woman because, “Frankly, it is none of your business.”
Tucker Carlson also picked up on the story, admitting he initially thought Owens was crazy but that “it turns out she’s right.”
Meanwhile, The Telegraph, which describes the theory as “absurd,” now claims it risks damaging diplomatic relations between America and France.

“Relations between France and America might be about to get even frostier,” the newspaper reported before noting that “associates of Trump” are becoming increasingly interested in the story.
The article quotes a professor of social psychology in society at the University of Cambridge, Sander van der Linden, who suggests the story is part of a Russian disinformation campaign while providing zero evidence for his claim.
“It’s not inconceivable that if the rumor becomes associated with supporters of Trump, the issue could add further strain to an already tricky relationship between the U.S. president and his French counterpart,” concludes the report.
Despite claims that the story could damage U.S.-French relations, it appears French politician Raphaël Glucksmann is already doing a good job of that after he called for France to take back the Statue of Liberty as punishment for President Donald Trump’s attempt to “side with the tyrants” by ending the Russia-Ukraine war.
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt responded to Glucksmann’s remarks, reminding him that if it weren’t for America, the French would be “speaking German right now.”
Unsurprisingly, The Telegraph failed to offer any evidence to debunk Owens’ and Carlson’s actual claims.
