What Weight Loss Medicine Was Sophia Umansky Taking?
Sophia was taking Mounjaro for four months before sharing details about her hair loss in a May 1, 2025, TikTok video.
“I am very lucky that I have so much hair because at the rate that I’ve been losing hair, I’m going to be bald in about one week. I started Mounjaro about four months ago and I would say, like, maybe for the past three weeks to one month, I’ve noticed a dramatic hair loss situation,” she said in the clip.
Mounjaro is a medication intended to treat type 2 diabetes.
Sophia Umansky Details Hair Loss
Before showing fans videos of the hair loss she experienced, Sophia shared that they were “not even seeing the half of it.”
“But all throughout the day, if I just like go like this, I’m like pulling out piles of hair,” Sophia said as she ran her hands through the ends of her hair, leaving loose strands between her fingers.
The video then cut to the clumps of hair she lost during her pre and post-shower brush.
Later, the former Buying Beverly Hills star shared that she didn’t think her hair loss was a “direct result of the medication.”
“I think it’s a direct result of rapid weight loss because of the medication and not eating enough vitamins, protein, all that kind of stuff,” she said. “I feel like at the beginning of starting this medication, I was just making sure I was eating enough. I wasn’t really thinking about enough protein, enough vitamins, all that kind of stuff. So, I think because of that, I have started losing hair.”
Sophia also shared that she has since been conscious of getting her recommended protein and vitamin intake every day.
Sophia brought out products she purchased to help stop her hair loss, including a shampoo and conditioner set that “reduces hair thinning.”
The reality star also started taking a hair nutrition peptide, collagen powder and vitamins.
“So, between all these things, I’m hoping that I start drawing back some hair. Also, if anyone has any questions about my experience on Mounjaro, I’d be happy to answer them,” she concluded. “I’m very open about it and I think it’s great. So, let me know.”
Fans React to Sophia Umansky’s Weight Loss Medication Reveal
Sophia’s fans flooded the comments section with curiosity as to why she injected the medication to begin with.
Amongst the questions, some fans shared their experience taking the medication.
“It’s the medication. I had this happen when I was only on it for three months and I didn’t have rapid weight loss but once I stopped the meds. It got better after a year,” one person wrote.
A second fan added, “It’s no one’s business why she is taking it. I take hair pills from Musely with biotin and minoxidil. I had the same thing!”
