Kim Kardashian Talks Taylor Swift
Kim Kardashian spoke publicly about Taylor Swift for the first time in years during a recent podcast appearance, offering a rare acknowledgment of the pop star’s music while also revisiting one of the most infamous celebrity disputes of the past decade.
On the Jan. 21 episode of Khloé in Wonderland, Khloe Kardashian asked her sister, “Do you think people would be surprised you listen to Taylor Swift?” Kim, 44, simply replied, “I think I’ve said it.”
She added, “I have some of her older songs in my playlist. I’ve always thought she’s like a super talented, great artist.”
The discussion comes amid a long-standing feud stemming from Kanye West’s 2016 song Famous, which included the controversial line: “I feel like me and Taylor might still have s*x / Why? I made that b***h famous.”
Kim has previously shared edited portions of a phone call between West and Swift regarding this song, before the full video of the conversation was released four years later.
In March 2020, Kardashian addressed the controversy on X writing: “@taylorswift13 has chosen to reignite an old exchange that at this point in time feels very self-serving given the suffering millions of real victims are facing right now. I didn’t feel the need to comment a few days ago, and I’m actually really embarrassed and mortified to be doing it right now, but because she continues to speak on it, I feel I’m left without a choice but to respond because she is actually lying.”
She continued, “To be clear, the only issue I ever had around the situation was that Taylor lied through her publicist who stated that ‘Kanye never called to ask for permission…’ They clearly spoke so I let you all see that. Nobody ever denied the word ‘bitch’ was used without her permission.”
Swift has addressed the controversy in interviews and through her music. In a December 2023 interview with TIME, she said: “You have a fully manufactured frame job, in an illegally recorded phone call, which Kim Kardashian edited and then put out to say to everyone that I was a liar. That took me down psychologically to a place I’ve never been before.”
She continued: “I moved to a foreign country. I didn’t leave a rental house for a year. I was afraid to get on phone calls. I pushed away most people in my life because I didn’t trust anyone anymore. I went down really, really hard.”
