Kate Hudson's Music Career 'Very Full Circle and so Rewarding' (EXCL)
Kate Hudson is thrilled to be jumping headfirst into a new music career and rocker fiancée Danny Fujikawa is backing her every step of the way on her new journey.
Becoming a full-blown musician “has been a lifelong dream for Kate and now that she’s finally off to the races she’s having the time of her life,” a source exclusively tells Life & Style of the actress’ aspirations. “She put out her album almost a year ago and the reaction was really encouraging.”
Glorious, which the Almost Famous star, 45, dropped in 2024, received decent critical reviews, with Rolling Stone declaring it “one of the year’s most pleasant musical surprises, a thoroughly grown-up and strikingly assured collection of guitar-heavy songs that tend to land somewhere between Adele and Sheryl Crow, with Hudson’s big, slightly husky voice and deep rock & roll fandom always front and center.” Moreover, fans seem to love the album, with plenty of social media users praising the shy singer’s vocals in particular.
“This album is actually really so so good. i had zero expectations but her voice is beautiful, like a less powerful kelly clarkson and the songs are strong. very classic light rock in the style of bonnie raitt/bonnie tyler,” one poster wrote.
Another declared, “The album is shockingly great! A breath of fresh air, if you will.”
“To have so many people love the album has been beautiful for her. Musicians she admires and looks up to have complimented her on the songwriting, on her voice, it’s mind-blowing for her,” the insider adds.
Actors and athletes leaning on their existent fame to put out music and roleplay as rock stars isn’t new, but the source insists that for Kate, making music was a personal goal she had been considering for over two decades. “She wasn’t expecting to turn into some huge pop star when she agreed to make this album, all she wanted was to make something she was proud of and put it out there with no regrets,” the insider explains. “She tried not to think too far past that.”
The Fool’s Gold actress told Rolling Stone in May 2024 that, back in the early 2000s, when pop music and pretty blonde girls were all the rage, producers had approached her with offers to make an album, but her insecurity got the better of her and she backed out. “I always felt not ready. I don’t know why that was my response. Something was stopping me, and I wasn’t reflective enough at the time to really think about it — until I got older, and I was like, ‘Why am I so hesitant with something I love more than anything?’”
Now well beyond the crippling self-doubt of her early 20s, the source says, “She’s now booked to play at a huge festival in Northern California in a couple of months.” But ever humble, right now, “She’s playing smaller pop-up shows to get her stage confidence up and she’s having the best time.”
“She’s always been the muse to the rock star and now she’s stepping into her power and becoming the rock star herself, it’s very full circle and so rewarding.”
