Kate and William 'Are Crossing Their Fingers' Louis Behaves (EXCL)
Prince Louis stole the show at Kate Middleton’s carol service with his grown-up appearance – and a source exclusively tells Life & Style he’s gotten way less naughty of late and has been making his parents ultra proud.
William and Kate’s youngest, 6, delivered an adorable moment at his mom’s fourth annual “Together at Christmas” carol service at Westminster Abbey on Friday, December 6. While making a quick stop at the “Kindness Tree” that had been set up before the concert began, photographers caught a glimpse of the note Louis wrote on a red card, which are intended to be hung on the branches as dedications to people who have been supportive throughout the year.
“Thank you to granny and grandpa because they have played games with me,” the prince’s card read.
“This year’s service provides a moment to reflect upon the importance of love and empathy, and how much we need each other, especially in the most difficult times of our lives,” Kensington Palace said of the event in a statement.
“The service will shine a light on individuals from all over the UK who have shown love, kindness and empathy in others in their communities, whether on a personal level with friends and family, through their work or as they selflessly give up their time through volunteering.”
The royal insider says that, as the prince is “growing up very fast,” the youngest child of the Waleses will be facing new challenges. With his moment at the carol service, “He’s suddenly stepped onto a new stage.”
“He still has that cheeky streak that people adore, and he’s really starting to settle down,” the insider says. “He’ll probably always be a little mischievous, that’s a part of his personality, but there’s certainly been a noticeable shift,” adding, “He’s doing his chores and does seem to be better behaved in public.”
Just a year ago, there was debate over whether the little prince would be attending his grandfather’s coronation as King Charles III. His parents were said to be “a little nervous” about having him out in the public eye at a lengthy, highly-televised event. After all, the year before, when he was 4, Kate had to keep a lid on Louis at Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee celebration while he tried to entertain himself through several slogging hours of British royal procession.
While Louis seems to have matured out of his rambunctiousness, “It’s too soon to say he’ll never get caught sticking his tongue out at the camera, but William and Kate are crossing their fingers that he’s reigned all that in,” the source says.
Louis’ big sister, Charlotte, “has been a big help,” too. “She’s the ultimate big sister, like a little mother hen with him. When he gets out of line she corrects him. That’s how William and Kate handle it, too. They don’t scold him too badly, they’re of the mind that he’ll grow out of it with the right guidance.”
So far, with the prince beginning to mirror the noblesse discipline of his father, “the strategy is paying off – he’s so much better behaved.”
