Joe Kent Tells Tucker Carlson He Was Informed To STOP Investigating Charlie Kirk’s Assassination

Joe Kent had a lot to say during his recent interview with Tucker Carlson.

Less than 24 hours after resigning from his position as the National Counterterrorism Center Director, Joe Kent, sat down with Tucker Carlson and discussed numerous topics such as the war in Iran, why he resigned, and even Charlie Kirk’s assassination.

On the topic of Charlie Kirk’s assassination, Kent told Tucker he and his colleagues at the NCC were told to stop investigating Kirk’s assassination.

The Washington Examiner provided further details on Kent’s claims:

Former National Counterterrorism Center Director Joe Kent said he and his team were blocked from continuing to investigate possible leads tied to the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, alleging federal agencies told them to halt their work despite unsolved questions.

Speaking on the Tucker Carlson Show following his resignation from the NCC, Kent said his office initially pursued leads related to possible foreign connections in the case, which fell within its mandate. But he said those efforts were curtailed.

“We were then told that, ‘Hey, you guys need to stop. You can’t work on this anymore,” Kent said.

Kirk, a prominent conservative figure and ally of President Donald Trump, was killed in a high-profile assassination that authorities have described as the act of a lone gunman on Utah Valley University’s campus. Kent said investigators were told to defer to state authorities in Utah and that federal agencies limited further inquiry.

“The FBI will say that they stopped that because they wanted to … turn everything over to the Utah State authorities,” Kent said, adding that officials characterized the case as a “slam dunk case.”

Kent said his team identified additional leads that warranted further review, including potential foreign links, but was unable to pursue them.

“There was more work for us to do on the potential of a foreign nexus … and we were blocked from doing that,” he said.

He described how access to information and interagency cooperation were restricted. “All the requests that we would make … were just never met,” Kent said, adding that requests for data sharing “just continue to die on the vine.”

Here’s the moment Kent said it:

The New York Times has reported Kent is now being investigated by the FBI:

The F.B.I. has opened an investigation into Joe Kent, a counterterrorism official who was pilloried by the White House after he quit over the war with Iran, for possibly leaking sensitive intelligence, according to two people with knowledge of the situation.

The investigation predated the resignation on Tuesday of Mr. Kent, the director of the National Counterterrorism Center, according to those people, who discussed a continuing investigation on the condition of anonymity.

Disclosure of the inquiry, which was reported earlier by Semafor, came after a coordinated Trump administration effort to discredit Mr. Kent as untrustworthy and disloyal.

The F.B.I. and Justice Department under Mr. Trump have frequently targeted the president’s critics and political enemies for criminal investigations, often without sufficient evidence to obtain or sustain a criminal indictment.

“Iran posed no imminent threat to our nation,” Mr. Kent wrote in his public resignation letter to President Trump, which landed as the president was grappling with the economic and geopolitical fallout from the Iran war.

Mr. Kent, the first senior member of the administration to quit over the war, claimed that the attack on Iran was “due to pressure from Israel and its powerful American lobby.”

He was interviewed on Wednesday by Tucker Carlson, a close friend, on his popular online podcast. Mr. Carlson, who gained notoriety for a sympathetic interview with a white nationalist last year, has been one of the most visible conservative opponents of the war and a vocal critic of Israel.

Mr. Kent’s critics have long accused him of promoting an antisemitic and anti-Israel worldview.
