On Saturday, the chairman of the House Judiciary Committee Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) condemned the attack on Israel by Hamas militants and urged everyone to continue to support “our great ally.”

In a statement posted on X, Jordan said, “The unprovoked terror attack today and the murders of innocent Israeli citizens are a stark reminder of the brutality of Hamas and Iran-backed extremists.”

“The indiscriminate killings of men, women, and children are sickening,” he continued. “We must pray for Israel, its leadership, the men and women serving in its defense, and all Israelis today.”

He added that it is “heartening that Congress has come together in a bipartisan manner to strongly condemn the horrendous attacks on Israel and the Israeli citizens.” He added that the US “must continue to support our great ally as it expels this invasion, overwhelms these extremists, and works to prevent Hamas from ever harming Israeli citizens again.”

On Saturday, Hamas launched a surprise attack on Israel sending over 2,200 rockets into the country as gunmen crossed the border killing hundreds and injuring thousands.

Former President Donald Trump condemned the attack. In a statement on Truth Social, he said, “These Hamas attacks are a disgrace and Israel has every right to defend itself with overwhelming force.”

“Sadly, American taxpayer dollars helped fund these attacks, which many reports are saying came from the Biden Administration,” he continued. “We brought so much peace to the Middle East through the Abraham Accords, only to see Biden whittle it away at a far more rapid pace than anyone thought possible. Here we go again.”

President Biden said in a post that he “spoke with @IsraeliPM about the appalling Hamas terrorist attacks in Israel” and he “offered our support.”

A White House statement came from NSC spokesperson Adrienne Watson, reading:

“The United States unequivocally condemns the unprovoked attacks by Hamas terrorists against Israeli civilians. There is never any justification for terrorism. We stand firmly with the Government and people of Israel and extend our condolences for the Israeli lives lost in these attacks. National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan has spoken to Israeli National Security Advisor Tzachi Hanegbi and we remain in close contact with our Israeli partners.”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told his citizens they are now at war. He said, “Citizens of Israel, we are at war, not in an operation or in rounds, but at war. This morning, Hamas launched a murderous surprise attack against the State of Israel and its citizens. We have been in this since the early morning hours. I convened the heads of the security establishment and ordered – first of all – to clear out the communities that have been infiltrated by terrorists. This is currently being carried out. At the same time, I have ordered an extensive mobilization of reserves and that we return fire of a magnitude that the enemy has not known. The enemy will pay an unprecedented price. In the meantime, I call on the citizens of Israel to strictly adhere to the directives of the IDF and Home Front Command. We are at war and we will win it.”
