Jessica Alba, Cash Warren Were ‘Going Through the Motions’ Before Split
Months before news broke that Jessica Alba and Cash Warren were reportedly separating, the Trigger Warning star revealed that there were times when she felt as though the two were just “going through the motions.”
“It’s all rosy for 2 ½ years, but then after that, you become roommates,” Jessica, 43, laughed during an April 2024 appearance on Katherine Schwarzenegger Pratt’s “BDA Baby” podcast. “And it’s just, like, you’re roommates. You’re just going through the motions. It’s the responsibility. It’s a lot of, like, checking the boxes.”
The Honey actress added that while she and Cash, 45, tried to schedule regular date nights where they didn’t have their phones so they could “just talk,” they just weren’t “consistent.”
“I would say that being able to communicate when you’re unhappy and nipping it right away instead of letting it sort of, like, fester, and then you have, like, animosity and it explodes,” Jessica continued.
She clarified that she and Cash had actually done that in the past and credited it to how long they had been together.
“We’re on 17 years. He basically stole my 20s and my 30s,” Jessica added. “So, we have the friendship and the comfort of, like, ‘You’re not going anywhere,’ and so, sometimes, you don’t treat those people the best. You don’t consider their feelings in the way that you would consider other people’s feelings.”
The Honest Company founder explained that it was something that she “constantly” worked on, and while that “one night a week date night might be enough” in that moment, it might “not be enough” down the road.
“It’s a life journey,” Jessica admitted. “I think if you’re both, every day, deciding to do it, it’s going to work out regardless of the drama, regardless if anything happens, if you’re both like, ‘I want this. I want to figure this out,’ nothing can really break that.”
Jessica and Cash met on the set of the 2005 film The Fantastic Four when she was cast as Sue Storm and he was working as a director’s assistant. They officially tied the knot in 2008, when Jessica was nine months pregnant with their first child, Honor. Cash and Jessica went on to welcome two more children over the next few years.
In December 2024, the Into the Blue star was seen in Rome without her wedding ring while out with film producer Andrea Iervolino. Cash was spotted not wearing his ring in January, and rumors began to swirl that the couple was headed for divorce. On January 4, Jessica continued to fuel split rumors when she attended a pre-Golden Globes party and was noticeably not wearing her wedding ring to the event.
On Wednesday, January 8, a source told TMZ that Jessica and Cash had “recently separated, and they’re moving forward with divorce.” The outlet stated that it was “unclear what brought them to the decision to end their nearly 17-year marriage.”
Neither Cash nor Jessica have commented about their reported separation, and neither party immediately responded to Life & Style‘s request for comment.
