Jennifer Garner’s BF John Miller Is a ‘3rd Wheel’ With Ben Affleck

Jennifer Garner and John Miller are still dating, but sources say the businessman is growing increasingly frustrated with the constant involvement of her ex-husband, Ben Affleck, in her life. The situation could reach a breaking point in 2025, forcing Jennifer to make a difficult choice between the two men in her life.

“John has shown the patience of an absolute saint, he’s been so supportive and understanding of Jen’s situation with Ben,” a source exclusively tells Life & Style. “But at this point, even he’s hit the wall. Ben’s constant presence is very hard to take, John’s like the third wheel in his own relationship.”

Jennifer, 52, and Ben, 52, were married from 2005 to 2018 and have remained cordial after their split to coparent their three children – Violet, Fin and Samuel — who they welcomed during their 13-year union. The pair divorced in 2019, and the Alias star continued to support the Batman actor after their breakup as she helped him enter a rehab facility the same year they divorced.

John, 46, marked Jen’s first relationship following her highly-publicized split. The pair were first romantically connected in 2018 and dated for two years before In Touch confirmed in August 2020 that they split up before Los Angeles “went into lockdown” amid the coronavirus pandemic. By May 2021, however, the two were back on.

Despite their blossoming relationship, the Elektra star remained close to her ex-husband, recently spending the Thanksgiving holiday together to pass out meals for the homeless community in Los Angeles with the Midnight Mission program.

“Even when the guy’s not around he’s calling and texting, it could be about the kids or an emergency, so Jen always answers,” the source explains. “It’s obvious she adores him, and it’s always been understood, any man that dates her has to be okay with Ben.”

According to the insider, John “accepts” Jen’s relationship with Ben, but says “the odds” of the Oscar award-winning actor sticking to “healthy boundaries” with his ex-wife “are very low.”

“He’s a guy who is used to getting what he wants, and Jen has set the precedent that she will always be there so as long as he’s single and wants her attention he’s going to get it, or at least try to,” the source concludes. “And unless Jen can start holding her ground and start making her life with John a priority there’s a growing feeling among his friends that he won’t be able to take this situation much longer, something’s got to give.”

The Good Will Hunting star is newly single after his second wife, Jennifer Lopez, filed for divorce in August. The former couple reunited in April 2021, nearly two decades after calling off their first engagement in the early 2000s. Ben popped the question for the second time one year later and it seemed they finally got their happily ever after.

The trio continues to successfully coparent their blended family, as Jennifer, Ben, and J. Lo, 55, were recently spotted together on December 13 at a school play to support two of their children.

Garner and Affleck’s child, Fin, and Lopez’s child, Emme, whom she shares with ex-husband Marc Anthony, both had roles in the performance. Emme’s twin brother, Max, was also there, holding a bouquet of flowers to give to his sibling.
