Jen Psaki panics, asks where’s the Republican ‘bed-wetting’ over Trump being likely nominee

MSNBC anchor Jen Psaki has, based on her recent rhetoric about former President Donald Trump, been accused of hitting the panic button.

In a write-up posted on Saturday to MSNBC’s website, the former Biden administration secretary sought to downplay concerns about President Joe Biden’s electability chances by framing the issue around Trump instead.

The write-up began with her admitting that some Democrats are concerned about Biden’s chances.

“There has been a lot of talk about Democratic ‘bed-wetting’ (a term my old boss David Plouffe coined to describe the constant state of high level of anxiety within the party) over the re-election chances for President Joe Biden. And I get it — current polling numbers don’t exactly prompt a big sigh of relief,” she wrote.

“A new NBC News poll shows Biden and Donald Trump deadlocked in a hypothetical rematch. Three-quarters of registered voters expressed concern about Biden’s age and mental fitness. As many as 56% disapprove of his job performance — an all-time high for the poll. And almost 60% of Democratic primary voters want Biden to face a challenger for the nomination,” she added.

She then claimed these fears are overblown because polling this far out is allegedly only so useful.

“Now, despite those shaky numbers and similar findings in other polls, there are many reasons why I think this anxiety is overblown. National polls this far out don’t tell you a lot, Democrats have consistently outperformed in special elections, incumbents have a leg up, and most importantly the contrast between Trump and Biden has barely been drawn,” she wrote.

OK …

Finally, she turned her attention to her favorite bogeyman, Republicans.

“But all this talk of Democratic anxiety really just makes me wonder — where’s the Republican bed-wetting? I mean, just this week, a New York judge found Trump, the leading candidate for the GOP nomination, liable for fraud. That is, of course, on top of his four criminal indictments, and their corresponding trial dates sprinkled throughout the heat of the campaign season,” she wrote.

The suggestion was that Republican voters should be worried about Trump’s own electability given the criminal charges he faces.

“And there is no viable alternative to him in the Republican Party. He is more than 40 points above the rest of the pack, according to that same NBC News poll. That lead has only grown since the release of his mug shot. Criminal record or not, this is their guy,” she continued.

“Given all of that, I’d say there’s more to worry about on the right, than on the left. So maybe it’s time for Democrats — led by an incumbent president — to pass the bed-wetting torch to the party led by a criminal defendant,” Psaki concluded.

Critics say she’s desperately trying to distract from the fact that her preferred candidate, President Biden, is currently losing in the polls. Losing by a lot.

As previously reported, a recent Washington Post/ABC News poll found Trump beating Biden by 10 points. Hilariously enough, the Post tried to spin the poll by referring to it as an outlier.

In fairness, two additional polls conducted since by the Economist/YouTube and Morning Consult found Biden leading, respectively by five percentage points and one percentage point.

Though on the other hand, a recent New York Post poll found Trump leading by three percentage points. Overall, RealClearPolitics shows that Trump currently maintains an average 1.3 percentage point lead over the current president.

Why the lead? Probably because an increasing number of Americans find themselves faring poorly in Biden’s America.

Why not? Well for one thing, “[t]he typical American cannot afford to buy a home in a growing number of communities across the nation,” according to a CBS News report published Thursday.

But there’s more.

“It costs $734 more each month to buy the same goods and services as two years ago for households who earn the median income, according to Mark Zandi, chief economist of Moody’s Analytics,” Bloomberg reported earlier last month.

Meanwhile, the president is busy sending more and more and more money to Ukraine.

“The U.S. is financing more than weapons in Ukraine. The government is buying seeds/fertilizer for farmers, paying the salaries of 57,000 first responders and subsidizing small businesses,” CBS News’ “60 Minutes” reported late last month.

Look:

Is it any wonder therefore that Psaki is panicking?
