Jacob Elordi and Olivia Jade's Romance Facing a 'Test' This Year (EXCL)
Jacob Elordi is still going strong with Olivia Jade, Lori Loughlin’s daughter, as is being reported, but a source exclusively tells Life & Style the Euphoria star is trying to keep the romance under the radar and going out of his way to avoid the limelight at all costs.
“Jacob’s romance with Olivia caught a lot of people off guard, because of her controversial recent history, but they work as a couple because they’re both independent thinkers and do things their own way, for better or worse,” says a close pal of the actor.
Rumors of their relationship first arose in December 2021, after the Aussie actor, 27, split from supermodel Kaia Gerber earlier that year and was spotted with Olivia, 25, out and about in Los Angeles. They were snapped doing couple-y things around the city for months before Journalposts confirmed their romance in May 2022.
Some outlets reported rough patches in their relationship in the past – mostly stemming from Jacob’s skyrocketing career being at odds with his new gal’s scandal, in which her parents allegedly paid $500,000 to claim she was a competitive rower to lock in a spot at USC, despite her never rowing or having any intention of doing so. It’s still unknown if Olivia had anything to do with the mess – or if it was just a case of overzealous and wildly entitled parenting – but regardless, it was seen as a bad look.
The couple are still together now, but the source says, “This year is going to be a test for them because of the dynamics around Jacob’s career,” in similar ways to the past. “He’s blowing up,” the source continues, “He’s making his next movie opposite Margot Robbie, and frankly, he’s becoming more famous than he’s comfortable being.”
The long lad, who initially lied about his 6-foot-5 height because he was afraid he would be considered too tall to cast, has seen his star rise after Euphoria became a hit with viewers around the world, which his friend claims is giving him triumphs and troubles in equal measure.
“Jacob’s acting career is working better than anybody expected, but the side effects of his success are hitting him hard,” the source adds. “It was a lot easier in Australia, where he could blend in easier, but Los Angeles is a whole different story, and Jacob feels the pressure.”
“Especially as the start date for the third season of Euphoria approaches, Jacob is a bit of a prisoner in his own home – and you can forget about relatives visiting him in L.A. for the holidays.”
With his newfound fame, “Jacob is getting mobbed wherever he goes, and that bums him out.”
“It isn’t fun, and it’s made him retreat a little from public life. Olivia Jade had to go through that same process herself after the admissions scandal, and she certainly isn’t pushing Jacob to be more social or outgoing.”
But there is a bright side to the handsome hermit’s timidity: “The more famous he gets, the more time he’s willing to spend with Olivia.”
