‘I regret every penny I ever gave you’: Bernie Sanders irks his base by remembering synagogue shooting
A solemn anniversary knocked a progressive icon down a peg in the eyes of extremists as their anti-Israel views manifested in claims of “fraud,” “cowardice” and more.
“Wow it’s really mask off in these comments. Total mask off.”
As the immense gravity of the terror attacks committed by Hamas against Israel on Oct. 7 continues to be grow in expanding tensions throughout the region, Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders (I) post acknowledging a separate tragedy was dragged on social media by those who align themselves against the response to the brutal slaughter of more than 1,400 men, women and children.
On Friday, Sanders, a favored leader among radicals for his outspoken socialist positions, saw fit to commemorate the five-year anniversary of the murder of 11 people at the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania Tree of Life synagogue without drawing any connection to the current turmoil in the Middle East.
“Today,” his official congressional X account read, “we remember and mourn for the victims lost five years ago in the devastating massacre at the Tree of Life synagogue. We must remain committed to fighting all forms of bigotry, antisemitism, intolerance, racism, and xenophobia.”

However, honoring the victims of a man who had admitted to police upon his arrest that he had deliberately sought out Jewish targets and declared “All Jews must die” was too much for an alarming number of people who’ve come out of the woodwork to embrace pro-Hamas slogans like “From the river to the sea…” calling for the eradication of Jews in Israel.
Through quote tweets and comments, Sanders was accused of ignoring genocide in the Gaza Strip as Hamas continued to shield themselves from the retaliation of Israel in civilian-rich environments.
“No Bernie, today we mourn the ongoing genocide in Palestine do better,” came one and, “You will always be remembered as the coward to Americans who believed in you!” said another as others chimed in expressing “But the massacre of Palestinians is okay? Your silence is deafening!”

Wow how you have let many down who looked up to you. Mourn Gaza. Condemn Israel.

I regret every penny I ever gave you, every phone call I ever made on your behalf, and every moment of energy I put into you as a political candidate. You shame us all.

Look at this fraud. He fooled so many Muslim youth especially those attracted to liberal ideals. And right now when Palestinians are being genocided by his tribe with full support of his admin, he comes here talking about a shooting attack 5 years stale. Libs are Nazis https://t.co/T7efJUuwTe

Of course, the supposition by many quick to call for the senator’s scalp that he had no sympathy for the people caught as collateral damage in the Gaza Strip ignored the fact that he had already spoken from the Senate floor calling for end to the bombing to “avert a total and horrific humanitarian disaster.”
The time is NOW for a humanitarian pause in the bombing so that desperately needed aid can get to the men, women, and children of Gaza and that hostages can be immediately released. We must avert a total and horrific humanitarian disaster. Here is my speech on the Senate floor. pic.twitter.com/fAjtHxQlRx

As ever, leftist feelings were devoid of consideration for the facts. All was not ghastly in the comments of the Vermont senator as others were grateful while still more were appalled at the blatant positioning that many on the left had taken that had thus far resulted in widespread violent protests and the termination of people in various fields including academia and healthcare.
“If you still don’t realize that the left has a major anti-Semitism problem, just read the replies and quote tweets to this post about the anniversary of one of the worst targeted attacks on Jews in American history. Note this post has nothing to do with Israel and Sanders has been very critical of Israel. Doesn’t matter,” wrote popular commentator AG Hamilton.

I dislike Bernie Sanders a great deal, but all you “read the room” responders are totally out of line. Bernie’s 100% on this tweet.

Getting REAAAAALL hard to believe in the “Anti-zionism, not Antisemitism” crowd. I’d be more willing to give benefit of the doubt if not for…..well, the replies speak for themselves https://t.co/LR6MTLLIzf

The replies to this are unbelievable, and revealing.
Did he say anything about Israel? No. Did he say anything about Palestine? No. All he did was commemorate Jewish murder victims. Their hatred is not about Israel, it’s about Jews. https://t.co/T6SbTc7d8d
