How Taylor Swift Retains Her Residence Feeling ‘Cozy’ and Stress-free
Taylor Swift may be one of the world’s biggest musicians in the eyes of the public, but when she’s spending time at home, she just wants to cozy up on the couch like everyone else.
In a new interview on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Swift shared the key ways she makes sure her home is a relaxing environment.
Number one is separating her home life from her work as a musician.
“I think that at home, I don’t want any paraphernalia,” Swift explained. “I don’t want any, like, plaques or like, I don’t want a studio. I don’t want there to be any evidence that, like, a music person lives here except for, like, my piano and, like, a guitar, but the guitar is not, like, hung in a prominent place.”
For Swift, studio time is sacred, as is her time spent away from the limelight of her life.
“I like it to feel very cozy at home and, like, if I’m gonna go to the studio, I go to the studio and it’s like ‘special day today, I get to go to the studio,’” she continued in the interview.
Another thing that Swift says helps her feel relaxed at home is knowing that she can deeply trust all of her friends and family that spend time with her there.
“My close friends and the people in my life and my family are all just so locked down in terms of like, I can tell them anything and it never ends up in the press. It never does, and it’s really nice,” she shared.
When Swift is on tour, she also creates her own home-away-from-home in her hotel rooms to help her decompress from her high-energy shows.
She shared with Colbert that her post-show routine includes a bath, lots of room service, and signing CDs.
“[I] get out of the costume, into the bath, immediately into the bath, mermaid time. And then I get, like, the most amount of room service possible,” she said of her tour routine.
Swift then shared that she likes to listen to shows like Dateline in the background and also frequently listens to audiobooks.
To add to the cozy vibes, Swift also brings her cats on tour with her around the world.
“This is my youngest, his name is Benjamin Button, and he’s really, really attached to my pillow, wherever that may be, in whatever country that is,” Swift said, referencing a picture of him that Colbert held up. “They travel with me everywhere.”
No matter where Swift lays her head at night, she knows a fluffy set of paws will also be there to help her feel at home.
