House GOP demands Biden-Harris admin turn over info on secret surveillance of Tulsi Gabbard with Quiet Skies program
“We ask that you produce the requested information and schedule the requested briefing immediately, but not later than 10:00 am on September 23, 2024.”
House Judiciary Committee Chair Jim Jordan is demanding that the Biden-Harris administration’s Transporation Security Administration (TSA) turn over documents related to the committee’s inquiry into the recent surveillance of Tulsi Gabbard with the Quiet Skies program. The Quiet Skies program marks those that need to be closely monitored by the US government when they are traveling by air.
According to the letter from Jordan to the TSA head, “On August 21, 2024, the Committee wrote to you requesting information and documents about the Transportation Security Administration’s (TSA) recent surveillance of former Representative Tulsi Gabbard. To date, you have failed to comply with the Committee’s requests. We write to reiterate our August 21 requests and ask for your voluntary cooperation with our oversight.”
The committee wrote in a post that the TSA’s failure to comply with the request amounts to “stonewalling” the inquiries that have been made in regard to the documents.
“According to whistleblowers from the Federal Air Marshals, the TSA began to surveil Representative Gabbard through its Quiet Skies Program on July 23, 2024, one day after she criticized the Biden-Harris Administration in a televised interview,” the letter continued. The whistleblower’s testimony said that there were “abnormalities” with the surveillance of Gabbard and that the reasoning behind her being marked down to be watched “didn’t pass the smell test.”
Further demanding that the documents be turned over to the Judiciary Committee, the letter from Jordan said: “We ask that you produce the requested information and schedule the requested briefing immediately, but not later than 10:00 am on September 23, 2024. The Committee is prepared to resort to compulsory process to obtain compliance with our requests for documents and communications.”
Many have perceived the move of putting Gabbard on the Quiet Skies list as a retaliatory move over Gabbard taking issue with the Biden-Harris administration. Gabbard has recently endorsed Donald Trump, and the GOP nominee has said that she will be on his transition team if elected.
